On the Way to a Smile: Case of ShinRa Translated

Posted on December 24th, 2009 at 1:41 PM by X-SOLDIER

Just in time for the holidays, XComp/LH Yeung has finished translating the final, and, perhaps, most anticipated “On The Way To A Smile” title: Case of ShinRa. This story begins during the events of FFVII, detailing Tseng and Rufus’ survival, as well as the Turk’s actions during the final night of the Meteor crisis in Midgar.

After that, it focuses on various ordeals that Rufus experiences, the construction of Edge, and what initiated the Turks to search for JENOVA at the beginning of Advent Children.

You can read the full story either by clicking the “Read the rest of this entry” link below, or at XComp’s site. Also, remember you can find links to all the other OtWtaS entries at the Advent Children Complete link under “Coverage” on the left hand side of our site (or by clicking the link in this very sentence). Thanks again to XComp for putting all his hard work into this.

A New Piece of FFVII Merchandise Wafts Out of TGS 2009

Posted on September 27th, 2009 at 2:09 AM by Makoeyes987

Apparently Cloud Strife is continuing his foray into digital modeling and merchandising with the release of his new brand name cologne, “Cloud Strife.” The new cologne was showcased at Tokyo Gameshow 2009 in the Square Enix Merchandise booth. A bottle of the FFVII hero’s scent is going for 6,800 yen. No word for when it’ll be released over seas.

Because nothing says you’re SO CASH, than smelling like an JRPG hero from 1997! Although I am curious as to what this stuff would smell like…Thanks to Tennyo for bringing this.. rare gem of S-E news to our attention. Oh, and don’t worry female fans, the cologne is apparently unisex, so you can get in on Cloud’s sexy aura too. Glad to know Cloud’s still swinging both ways 12 years later.

“Safe & Sound” only featured in the Japanese Release of Advent Children Complete

Posted on July 29th, 2009 at 12:00 AM by X-SOLDIER

no-safe-sound

Upon the release of Advent Children Complete in North America, many fans were surprised, and disappointed when they discovered that the old theme “Calling” by Kyosuke Himuro was played during the end credits, instead of the new theme “Safe & Sound” created specifically for Advent Children Complete by Gerard Way & Kyosuke Himuro. The iTunes release of the single was also limited to Japan only, and has not yet been released outside the region. This was especially odd, given the fact that both artists live and met in LA, California, in addition to the fact that Gerard Way’s fanbase is fairly large in the United States, and seemingly could have assisted sales.

With the recent release of Advent Children Complete in Europe, it has been confirmed that the EU version doesn’t contain the new theme song either. This makes the Japanese Region the only version of Advent Children Complete that had the new theme during the end credits.

This is especially odd, with Gerard Way recently performing “Desolation Row” for the end credits of the internationally released film Watchmen, and Kyosuke Himuro’s original ending theme appearing in the film, it’s unlikely, though possible that a licensing conflict prevented the song from being used. Either way, at this point there’s been no announcements from S-E regarding the changes, or if there will be any non Japan Region releases with the song.

The SE Product Blog has updated with the new creatures that will be featured in the upcoming new set of the FF Master Creatures Collection. Included are Bahamut SHIN from FFVII AC, Zalera from FFXII, Valefor from FFX, Tiamat from FF1, and The Brothers from FFVIII.

However…In a magazine scan promoting the set…another figure is shown blackened out, representing that its a secret chase figure in the set.

Its silhouette, looks familiar… Could it be Terra, riding Magitek armor, from FFVI?
