Dissidia 012 Script Now Available

Posted on May 5th, 2011 at 6:11 PM by Squall_of_SeeD

For those of you who are interested in such things, a trascription of Dissidia 012′s text — complete with the text of prologus, 012: Treachery of the Gods, 013: Light to All, 000: Confessions of the Creator, and the Character Files and Summon Compendium from the Museum — is now available for you to peruse online at GameFAQS. Click here to check it out.

A little self-promotional, I suppose, given that I put this thing together — but only a little.

With this now done, my personal efforts to provide coverage of the game to the fans are pretty much done. In addition to this script, I’ve also previously posted a review of Dissidia 012, a Plot Analysis FAQ, and a translation of an Ultimania page that explains the algorithm behind which voices you hear at the game’s title screen.

I’m not going to say that this is the last thing I’ll work on related to Dissidia or Dissidia 012 (there are some developer interviews in one of the Ultimanias that I’m interested in), but if I do anything else, it’s going to be a good while off.

For now, I just want to get caught back up on the 30 Days of Final Fantasy meme, as I’m behind on the past three day’s entries, and still need to do today’s. We have a thread running in the forum for people to post their entries, so come on in and post yours.

Meanwhile, I’m posting mine over on my personal blog, I disagree — The Id, by the way. Just in case you want to check it out. If not now, then another time perhaps?

Okay, I admit, that last bit was straight-up shamelessly self-promotional. Enjoy the script (and blog?), folks.

Dissidia 012 Title Screen Voices

Posted on April 17th, 2011 at 12:05 PM by Squall_of_SeeD

If you’ve been playing Dissidia 012 — or watching videos of it on YouTube — then you know by now that the voices of the game’s various characters can occasionally be heard saying “Square Enix” and “Dissidia Duodecim” at startup. You may have even noticed that the game of origin for some of the characters seems to correspond to certain days of the month on which you hear them (e.g. you heard Steve Burton/Cloud on the 7th of April).

You may be interested to know exactly what circumstances determine who you hear on a given day — and perhaps even a given time on a given day. Read on for more.

Dissidia 012 Plot Analysis FAQ

Posted on April 5th, 2011 at 5:03 PM by Squall_of_SeeD

Mentioned in our “Dissidia 012 Review and Story Analysis” article, this is TheLifestream.net’s exclusive — and extensive — plot analysis FAQ of the Dissidia Final Fantasy series. This is the most comprehensive such analysis of Dissidia’s story around — the closest thing to a Dissidia FF Ultimania Omega you’ll ever find, unless Square Enix decides to do one, of course.

We hope that this article enhances your enjoyment and appreciation of Dissidia, and perhaps your understanding of it as well.

Aerith’s Alternates

Posted on February 24th, 2011 at 10:00 PM by ForceStealer

Despite only being an assist character, that apparently doesn’t preclude Aerith from getting her own set of alternate outfits. Like Tifa, she can sport her Crisis Core or Amano dress.

Several New Dissidia Gameplay Videos

Posted on February 23rd, 2011 at 7:12 PM by ForceStealer

The Japanese site has been updating with a couple of  combat videos from the game. They seem to do a pretty good job at showcasing the characters’ abilities with opponents actually offering some solid resistance. These are our first real good looks at Yuna, Gilgamesh, and Prishe as well as Aerith’s assistance capabilities. Enjoy!

We’ll start off with the shipper’s dream matchup: Tifa (assisted by Aerith) facing Sephiroth (assisted by Cloud):

Continue after the break for seven additional battles.

Dissidia Alternates Update

Posted on February 16th, 2011 at 2:45 PM by ForceStealer

You may have noticed at the bottom of the Gilgamesh scan an image of Squall’s Kingdom Hearts appearance. It has indeed been confirmed as another alt for him. Europe will be receiving a release of the game called the “Legacy Edition,” which will include download codes for both that and the red-garbed Amano Tifa.

Additionally, it’s been announced that pre-ordering Dissidia 012 from Amazon.com will net you the code for Amano Tifa, whereas pre-ordering the game from GameStop will come with a code for Cloud’s Kingdom Heart’s outfit. There hasn’t been word yet on how North America will be receiving Squall’s “Leon” getup.

Here are images of the alternates in question to help with your decision.

Enough Expository Banter!

Now we fight like men! And ladies! And ladies who dress like men!

Gilgamesh was already confirmed for Dissidia 012, but images and information about him are now starting to trickle in. Famitsu recently featured the famous swordsman. See after the break for the scan and the translation.

Dissidia Duodecim 012 – Website Artwork and Renders [Updated]

Posted on February 10th, 2011 at 11:39 AM by Cloud_S

Since there have been more characters revealed on both the Japanese and North American websites, I have updated the previous post, with all available images. I’m also making this new posting as the original will soon be too many pages behind for readers who only skim the first page to notice. As I often do, I’ve ripped the various images of artwork and renders from both the Japanese and North American websites for Dissidia Duodecim 012. Normally these are posted in topics, but as it has been requested, I shall post these up on the main page.

Images are after the jump. Note, not all the characters have their full allotment of images available yet. For completionist sake, I’m even tossing in ripped content from the original Dissidia page (and Universal Tuning), to fill in what isn’t on either country’s Dissidia Duodecim 012 site.

Needless to say, after the jump there are many thumbnails for all the images. Loading times may vary.

How to save the images:
Best way to go about it, is to use the middle button (scroll-wheel) on your mouse. That should open the image in a new tab.

Though I’m not 100% sure if that works in all browsers (I’m using Firefox). In the event you don’t have a scroll-wheel, then I believe right-clicking on the thumbnail should give you the option to open it in a new tab/window, and you should be able to save it from there.

Dissidia Duodecim 012 – Official Site updated with more characters!

Posted on January 21st, 2011 at 9:20 PM by Dark and Divine

The Dissidia 012′s offcial japanese site has been updated with new characters.

Joining the roster are Zidane and Kuja from FFIX and Tidus and Jecht from FFX. In each one’s profile, we can see their special alternate uniforms, in addition to their attires from the original Dissidia as well as their Ex-Bursts. But beyond these four characters, we also have a  newcomer, the water-walking Yuna.

Thanks go to our our member Scrat for bringing this to our attention.

Edit: And each character now has a new CG render in their profile’s background. Really awesome stuff!

Thanks go to Ella for pointing this out.

Dissidia 012[duodecim] Prologus – Ripped Content & Videos [SPOILERS]

Posted on January 21st, 2011 at 8:43 AM by Cloud_S

Changing gears, instead of website content, I’ve been ripping video game data from Dissidia 012[duodecim] Prologus. While I’ll be updating this post as often as possible, it is also a good idea to check out the topic for this content as well.

I still have many images to sort through, but after the jump are a few (number will increase soon!) videos I’ve recorded of gameplay direct from my PSP. As a bonus, I’m also recording the animations for each character (and their alt’s and ex-modes) through a model viewer. (more…)
