Dissidia Final Fantasy Duodecim 012: Famitsu Scans

by September 15, 2010 0 comments

Scans from the latest Famitsu concerning Dissidia’s sequel have surfaced, and bring more than a handful of novelties. The first ones are in-game footage of both Lightning and Kain, as as well their respective Nomura artwork. Beyond that, there’s also word of other new features to the gameplay which Hitoshura has now translated for us. Some of important mention is the abolishment of EX-Canceling, and the addition of an “Assist Character System.” All characters will be returning and apparently, your old saves from Dissidia Final Fantasy will link up to Dissidia Duodecim somehow.

Below is translated text from the Famitsu scan. Also included below are the attack names of Kain and Lightning, from the Tokyo Game Show demo, for all difficulty types. Of important note, is the fact that Warrior of Light and Kuja have now apparently been given a new attack. Warrior of Light has a ground HP attack called ‘Ultimate Shield’, and Kuja has an air HP attack called ‘Force Symphony’. It seems the returning characters will be getting new attacks as well:

EDIT: And apparently, via multiple sources, it seems Tifa Lockhart is confirmed for Dissidia Duodecim, as well. And Cloud’s Kingdom Hearts costume will be downloadable content for the game. Happy days are here at last.

You can use the Assist system to escape from continuous attacks (like Cloud’s Smash Blow > Omnislash Ver.5). It’s easy to fill up the Assist gauge.

The trick of using the time when you’re invincible when you activate EX Mode from the first game has been taken away, and another system has been added in its place.

Kain’s EX Mode form is the ‘Holy Dragoon‘ of FFIV: The After Years.

Lightning’s EX Mode form is the ‘Gestalt Mode‘ of Final Fantasy XIII.

There’s a shot showing an Imitation Manekin.

Scenes mentioned in text:

Cecil and Onion Knight talking on what seems to be an airship; Cloud in a new costume; the Emperor and Golbez plotting something; Kuja and Zidane conversation, seeming like allies (Cosmos summoned Kuja this time…..? Or are his memories hazy like Kain….?)

The time for the Chase mode has been shortened so it’s faster paced.

Bits of dialogue from the scans
;

[Lightning and Kain]
Lightning: Why did Cosmos call for us again?

[Lightning]
Lightning: I don’t know, I’d say it’d be easier to suspect the ones on your side.

[Lightning and Warrior of Light]
Lightning: What are you up to, traitor?

[Lightning]
Lightning: Then what are we fighting for..?

I dound some pictures showing Aya from parasite eve/third birthday dreesed as lighting and one other with lighting dressed as aya. I think that Tifa was also confirmed.
And lastly If you purchase Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, you will receive a code to download a costume for Cloud in Dissidia Duodecim 012, that will change his appearance to look like Kingdom Hearts Cloud.

I hope you’ll be able to change your assist partner… I would have Lightning & Kain as assist partners. 🙂
