This one I can answer, at least.

“Aeris” was the early English translation of her name, and pretty much only appeared in FF7 itself. “Aerith” was her name in the original Japanese version, and was kept as her name throughout the series in both JP and EN (CC and AC notably, since I regrettably only have those as reference points).

Hmm… forced aging… yeah, that sounds like something Hojo would do. Along with some kind of implanted training/schooling type things so they’d know enough to pass for as old as they looked.

Weeellll, there’s Master Roshi, Kami, and King Kai from DBZ, and uh… the captain commander from Bleach, so I suppose they’re in the “permanently old” category? As for getting old? Um… Pan did! And Bulma & Chichi… But I can’t think of another anime off the top of my head where aging (and showing it!) happens. Though, Cloud sorta grew up a little.

Okay. I’m utterly confused. Or, possibly I have a clue, but.

If Sephiroth was born approximately 20 years before Crisis Core, and the Wutai War started 8 years before Crisis Core…

doesn’t that make him a 12 year old General? (and yeah, I see that he’d be 21 by the time the war gets over – but still!)

When and how did we go from Aeris to Aerith? I have poored over several texts and can’t seem to find an answer. Was it a translation issue or???
