Ubisoft is launching their own film studio for future game adaptations.

Attention movie, tv, and gaming fans – Variety is reporting that Ubisoft has created a new division that will be dedicated to producing adaptations of its video game franchises for film and TV.

Based in Paris, Ubisoft Motion Pictures is reportedly headed by former Europacorp CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet while the marketing and promotion departments will be lead by former Walt Disney Studios France exec Jean de Rivieres.

I suspect this makes an Assassin's Creed adaptation a certainty. :/

It's probably better than letting some big-name studio that only sees the franchise as a cash cow surprise sex the canon. As long as they remember what the people who adapted Atlas Shrugged didn't remember, which is only to hire people who actually have experience writing, directing and acting :monster:

Ubisoft might not be on the gaming news headlines as much as others, but it's nice to see another company that treats its IP with care, and not release titles and adaptations with the sole purpose of cashgrab.

Not that cashgrab isn't there, but I tend to think of Ubisoft as a company with dev teams with some smidgeon of inspired creative talent unlike some other bland groups.
