Site Usage

How do I set my avatar?

The Lifestream uses Gravatar.com‘s avatar service by default. Gravatar offers a service where you can store one or a collection of avatars, and use them across a wide range of weblogs and sites – WordPress-powered ones, as The Lifestream is, for example. Your Gravatar is linked to your e-mail address, so all you need to do is go to Gravatar.com, sign up for an account or log into an existing one, upload or otherwise store one or more avatars, and finally select the avatar you’d like to use.

It can take a while (up to 10 minutes) for your image to appear, and you may have to clear your cache (if you know what that means) before your selected avatar appears, so be patient.

How do I use markup in comments?

Most of you will probably be used to BBCode, as is commonly used in forums and the like. The Lifestream (or well, the blogging software WordPress that is used by The Lifestream) however uses a limited set of basic HTML code, which works like BBCode for the most part. We may add a BBCode plugin at a later date.

Currently, there’s support for bold and italic text using the <strong> and <em> HTML code, URLs using the <a> HTML, images using <img>, and lists. URLs posted will automatically be converted to hyperlinks, so you don’t need to enter them explicitly.
