Mission Objective Defeat 4 DG Commanders
Conditions for Defeat Suffer a KO / Exceed Time Limit
Reward Promoted to DG Commander 3rd Class

Learning the position of each of the three Potions in the stage was important knowledge. From left to right (see below), the Potions were found in the coordinates M-12, H-10 and J-6.

Pest Control 《Trial》

Defeat as many of the strange insects that have overflowed the sewer within the specified time limit.
You will be rewarded an amount of gil appropriate to your work.
Map Sewer
Maximum Participants 1
Initial Supplies 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB
Mission Objective Defeat Bizarre Bugs
Conditions for Defeat Suffer 3 KOs / Exceed Time Limit
Reward Gil based on performance
Time Limit 5 Minutes

According to the DCFFVII Wiki, you had to pay 500 gil just to enter this mission. Your goal must then have been to overcompensate for this by defeating as many bugs as possible and getting gil accordingly.

The wiki also mentions there being a box to stand on which helped in the fight against the bugs.

Collector’s Mind Lv.3 《★★★》

Mako capsule retrieval training.
This time, a lot of DG Soldiers will be acting as obstacles.
Retrieve all the Mako Capsules within the time limit.
Map Kalm Streets
Maximum Participants 1
Initial Supplies 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB
Mission Objective Collect 7 Mako Capsules
Conditions for Defeat Exceed Time Limit
Reward +20 Ranking Points
Time Limit 7 Minutes

The third and final Collector’s Mind mission! Six of the capsules had fixed positions (blue dots) and the seventh capsule could appear in one of two places (purple dots).

Green Encounter 《Trial》

This is a challenge from the green monsters running in the wilderness.
Defeat these and obtain as many Mako Capsules as possible within the specified time limit.
Map Wastelands
Maximum Participants 3
Initial Supplies 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB
Mission Objective Collect Mako Capsules
Conditions for Defeat Suffer 3 KOs / Exceed Time Limit
Reward Ranking Points based on performance
Time Limit 8 Minutes
Pay to have cleared 2000 Gil

The mission had two Cactuar types: Cactuar (Sabotender) and Kactuar (Sapotender). Only the normal Cactuar dropped Mako Capsules. As FFSG reports, collecting 14 Mako Capsules would equal an S Rank.

The DCFFVII Wiki writes the time limit as 5 minutes, which is inconsistent both with FFSG’s written time limit of 8 minutes and this screenshot from DGYaco’s blog where over 7 minutes are remaining.

Forest of Grudge 《★★★★》

Clean up the troops that have barricaded themselves deep in the jungle.
Destroy the enemy base within the time limit and enter that area.
How you co-operate with your partners will surely determine the outcome of the assault.
Map Jungle
Maximum Participants 2
Initial Supplies 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB
Mission Objective Destroy & Invade the Enemy Base
Conditions for Defeat Suffer 1 KO / Exceed Time Limit
Reward +65 Ranking Points
Time Limit 5 Minutes
Pay to have cleared 12000 Gil

FFSG and the DCFFVII Wiki both write that the reward was +50 Ranking Points. This is incongruent with Cloze’s recording from August 17 which shows +65 RP as the reward.

The Consequence of Betrayal 《★★★》

A DG Soldier in training escaped together with a Beast Soldier.
Find these two and defeat them within the time limit.
Map Kalm Streets
Maximum Participants 3
Initial Supplies 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB
Mission Objective Defeat DG Soldier & Beast Soldier
Conditions for Defeat Suffer 3 KOs / Exceed Time Limit
Reward +35 Ranking Points
Time Limit 8 Minutes

The two targets of this mission apparently moved abnormally fast for their enemy type and Cloze reports that only headshots could damage the standard DG Soldier.

Sahagin Dance? 《★★★》

*MS starts at 3:07.
**For higher quality, watch the video on niconico.

Narrator: Regis
I have been dreaming of bo…dies dancing energetically under the scorching sun.
The person in charge of the desert battles was killed in an accident while training their body.
I was quick…ly called in as a replacement. Ah, how frightening fate is.
By the way, do you like Sahagin?
Implemented April 20
Map Desert
Maximum Participants 2
Initial Supplies 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB
Mission Objective Defeat 100 Sahagins
Conditions for Defeat Suffer 1 KO / Exceed Time Limit
Reward 1000 Gil
Time Limit 10 Minutes
Pay to have cleared 8000 Gil

Limit Breakers spawned regularly on this battlefield.

Apart from “Sahagin Dance?”, only the mission “Fifth Ring Battle” had the specific goal of the player defeating 100 enemies. While the Sahagin challenge is the first such mission on our list, Fifth Ring Battle was actually implemented almost two months earlier on February 27. The goal of defeating 100 targets became more common in the offline scourges, being the objective for a total of nine Extra Missions.

While battling the Sahagin, a Cactuar would sometimes emerge. Upon defeat it would drop an “Energetic Bonus Ticket”, which was necessary to set up a battle table for the “Cactus Dance?” mission.

Cactus Dance? 《★》

Narrator: Regis
Hoh hoh… The dance with Sa…hagin was brilliant, but now I want to see a body drip…ping with sweat.
Could you dance it out with those Cactuars running about?
Implemented April 20
Map Desert
Maximum Participants 2
Initial Supplies 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB
[Despite ammo not being used here]
Mission Objective Exceed Time Limit
Conditions for Defeat None
Reward 3000 Gil
Time Limit 4 Minutes
Prohibited Shooting / Magic

Congrats on acquiring the Energetic Bonus Ticket! Now you can set up a battle table for this mission. Or maybe you decided to piggyback on somebody else’s battle table?

Despite not being a trial mission, the condition for winning was to continue until the timer reached zero. With no conditions for defeat there was no way to lose this mission. Without guns and magic, your goal was to melee Cactuars to your heart’s content and pick up the Chocobo Coins they left behind. Despite being a “coin”, this item used the gold ingot model you see in the screenshot above to the left. You can also observe that all the players in the screenshots are wearing the Speed Suit: The suit that allowed for the fastest running and thus made it easier to catch up with the Cactuars.

“Cactus Dance?” was one of the most popular ways of grinding for gil in the online mode. Each Chocobo Coin would trade for 1000 gil when the mission ended. With it being easy enough to reach the item cap of nine Chocobo Coins, your reward would add up to the 9000 gil for the coins plus the 3000 gil reward for simply clearing the mission.

The premise of fighting a steady of stream of Cactuars in the Desert area is similar to Extra Mission #30, “100,000 Needles”. However that’s where the similarity between the two missions end.

Broken Feast 《★★★》

Narrator: DGD Soar
Comrades! Oh, if it aren’t my favourite guys!
I see you’re all gathered here tonight, how swell. Are your weapons and minds already broken?
Alright! The state of mind you’re aiming for is that between impatience and misery!
Come now!!
Implemented March 24
Map Train Graveyard
Maximum Participants 1
Initial Supplies 100 HB
Mission Objective Defeat 10 DG Soldiers
Conditions for Defeat Suffer a KO / Exceed Time Limit
Reward Broken Machine Gun
Time Limit 8 Minutes
Prohibited Magic / Melee

The mission forced you to wield the Broken Handgun and Broken Barrel. DGD Soar was an NPC always associated with broken equipment and so it’s no surprise that your reward for clearing this mission was a Broken Machine Gun.

Guides are inconsistent however as to whether the machine gun was gained immediately when clearing this mission or if it was only given when speaking to DGD Soar later on. Another mystery is that while guides write that the Broken Handgun and Broken Barrel were forced on the player, no guide or blog specifically says that custom weapons were prohibited.

Lightning Illusion 《★★★》

This is a prototype test of the electromagnetic disruptor barricade.
Observe its bewitching effects and examine its practical use.
Well then, start right away by seeing if you can collect all capsules in the facility within the given time limit.
Implemented April 20
Map Shinra Manor
Maximum Participants 1
Initial Supplies 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB
Mission Objective Collect 7 Mako Capsules
Conditions for Defeat Suffer a KO / Exceed Time Limit
Reward +20 Ranking Points
Time Limit 5 Minutes

The mission was ported to the almost identical “An Invitation to Illusion”, which is the 46th and final Extra Mission. The goal of 7 Mako Capsules became 10 Medals, with most of the capsule locations being re-used for the medals. The time limit of 5 minutes was reduced to 2 minutes, making this quite a stressful mission that demands memorization. Both the online and offline versions of this mission had you try to figure out which electromagnetic barricades where solid and which ones you could actually walk right through!

You may have noticed by now that there are no red electromagnetic barricades in the online mode screenshots. The distinction was only introduced with the Extra Missions that blue barricades can be deactivated while red barricades can not.

The fact that the multiplayer only had the blue barricades may be because it seems like the Cardkey, a common item used to deactivate fences when playing as Vincent Valentine, was never used in the online mode.

Dark · Mass · Destruction · Gathering 《★★★★》

You’ve heard the story from Sir Restrictor, correct? The Sable has gone rampant and his darkness is overflowing all over.
Those who were sent to deal with it have all been lost in the darkness. Go and and take care of it promptly.
Implemented April 20
Map In Front of Mako Reactor
Maximum Participants 1
Initial Supplies 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB
Mission Objective Defeat 12 of Nero’s Dark
Conditions for Defeat Suffer a KO / Exceed Time Limit
Reward +30 Ranking Points
Time Limit 5 Minutes

After clearing this mission for the first time, Scene 6 “At the Foot of Darkness” would play and show us Nero in restraints.

The stage spawned plenty of Ethers. With each cloud of darkness, “Nero’s Dark”, being weak against Fire it was a natural choice to use materia in this mission. Handgun- and machine gun bullets apparently worked fine too.

Albeit unnamed (as enemies/targets don’t have name tags above their heads in the offline content) Nero’s darkness does make an appearance in Extra Mission #28, “Cyclopean Causeway”. As you make your way through the basement corridors you must shoot down the clouds of darkness coming to hurt you.

In “Dark · Mass · Destruction · Gathering” you could find the fifth memory capsule. We possess no snapshot of it but a guide writes that if you stood at coordinate G-9, you could spot the capsule by aiming up to the sky towards I-10.

Destroying the capsule unlocked Scene 5 “Even a Tsviet” to the Event Viewer.

The Blue Roar 《★★★★★》

Any soldier who survives an encounter with Azul the Cerulean
will be allowed to participate in continued strength tests against him.
Implemented April 7
Map Church
Maximum Participants 5
Initial Supplies 36 HB, 18 RB, 60 MB
Mission Objective Defeat Azul
Conditions for Defeat Suffer 3 KOs / Exceed Time Limit
Reward Cerulean Bullet
Time Limit 5 Minutes
Pay to have cleared 32000 Gil

The battle against humanoid Azul was the first fight against a colored Tsviet available in the online mode.

Strategies written down for this mission usually involved one person acting as a decoy, spinning around Azul while firing with their machine gun, while the others attacked from a safe distance. Having a participant deal with the steady stream of DG Commanders was also important so to not disrupt the flow in the battle against Azul.

The Cerulean Bullet rewarded by beating Azul could be used to set up a battle table against Arch Azul in the Commander-level mission “Cerulean Awakening”.
