    aaahhhHHH every time an Unused Text article goes up it COMPLETELY MAKES MY DAY. Thanks again for all your hard work!!

    Wow I didn’t know about the “Hart” Pizza Hut joke, and therefore never made the connection with Domino. wowwww…the rotting pizza, indeed!

    This was such a touching article for character moms ;_; Between invisible Aerith patting Elmyra’s back and the ADORABLE Homemade Potion… and Cloud saying “mother” as Nibelheim burns, oh noo it’s too much ;_;

    additionally, I remember seeing all the MESSED UP field models of various characters in the PC version ficedula model viewer, but never imagined they would appear in a field like that. seeing that horrifying Tseng in physical space is really creepy, haha.

    man this is all so good. thanks for the great post!

    “Barret was most likely at headquarters to discuss the building of Corel’s Mako Reactor. He mentions in his flashback that his first time hearing the term ‘Mako’ was when the Shinra arrived to his village to spread the word of Mako Energy. If he had been to Shinra HQ before that, then he would have known about their source of power.”

    this statement isn’t contradictory. it could have been

    1. barret hears about mako at corel
    2. barret goes back to headquarters to discuss reactor
    3. barret goes back to corel
    4. reactor is built

      The way the scene was flowing I assumed that it was the Shinra people who mentioned Mako at the same time that they came there to talk about building a reactor. It is true though, he might have heard it via a different source, earlier on, then went to HQ, returned, then Shinra arrived and we see the scene in the mayor’s house.

      Before editing this aspect of the article, I’ll check with GlitterBerri if the Japanese text is more indicative of who told him about Mako and when.

      Thanks for pointing out this possible scenario. =)
      If anyone else has any questions or disagreements, don’t be afraid to speak them.

      During a discussion with an NPC at the Shinra Building during Crisis Core, they mention an individual who matches Barret’s description who was with the “Mako Reactor party from Corel”. One of the side missions is also to clear the Wastelands of monsters because the same party/another party from Corel are stranded in Kalm.

      So, as it turns out, Barret’s unused dialogue is canon and Mog’s sequence of events is correct. I didn’t realise this was being debated.
