FFVII Remake in Europe

Played the demo at MCM!

A few personal thoughts:

- I feel like the Mako Reactor theme is maybe a bit too subdued; it's still great, but the original had a sense of overbearing power that feels missing in this one.
- The weird floatiness that I had an issue with in KH3 is thankfully absent in this, and on top of that Cloud and Barret are noticeably different to control. Barret feels suitably slow and tanky, Cloud is more nimble and has a tighter turning circle.
- Combat took me about 5 minutes to get used to. Getting into a good flow isn't hard.
- The demo pods are set up to have you sitting WAY too close to the TV, it made paying attention to all the different gauges on screen more difficult than it should've been. Not the game's fault.
- Scorpion battle music is absolutely incredible, there's parts of it that I haven't heard in any rips or demos. I was grinning like an idiot for most of the battle.

It was graet 10/10

So glad you got to experience it!

Yeah, that really annoyed me as well how they set the demo stands out. At EGX, I purposely had to push my chair back so that I could take it all in, as I quickly found myself constantly glancing far left (at the command menu) or far right (to the tutorials and the status bars) to track all the different segments on the screen. They put the chairs way too close to the monitors.

I massively agree with this, though I’m hoping this is because there might be variations on the theme in different Mako Reactors and that they’re saving even more epic sounds for later scenes of note, e.g. the Nibelheim Reactor immediately springs to mind.

I hope so yeah, I get that they're going for something a little quieter and more foreboding but it's not QUITE on the level of the original track.

Oh yeah I had a shot of the Buster Sword too:

It's REALLY heavy.
