What if Sephiroth won?

Albeit I'm new to the game's extensive lore and all this forum stuff. But I had a lingering thought in my head after I beat the game. "What if Sephiroth did become a god?" Would the whole planet be wiped out? The lifestream disbanded sorta? Obviously I'm guessing cloud and party would die, but what would Sephiroth really, do? He would have completed his whole journey, but for what? Even if it's said in the game and I missed it, would be great to get an answer, thanks y'all!

That’s basically all there is to it. He’s insane. He wants to screw with Cloud and be the next Calamity from the Skies, in that order. At the end of the day he’s just a dog chasing a car, like The Joker, except with less self awareness.

I think Advent Children shed light on the full extent of Sephiroth's next move in the event of him winning (though this was connected to another plot altogether); basically, as soon as Sephiroth pulled a Shang Tsung on the Lifestream, whatever was left of the Planet would then become a meteor set on sailing the cosmos and landing on the next unfortunate planet, as Jenova did 2000 years earlier, and the cycle would repeat itself.

If Sephiroth were to have won, the meteor would hit and destroy everything. Then jenova "the calamity" would use the lifestream energy to sail the cosmos and continue on her endless rampage of destruction. You need to look at all the back storyline with professor Gast etc. advent children does help too. Sephiroth is only a vessel created by Hojo but conceived by jenova. SHE is the bad guy of the entire story. She uses her influence in the lifestream to create Sephiroth and his clones to do her work. From my understanding jenova crashed into the planet (northern cave) and got stuck by the lifestream, so she started using her influence to create her son and by manipulating Humans (Hojo) to make clones...an army to fight for her. The guys in the black robes are his clones, sephiroth is essentially eternal because if you kill him jenova will simply "awaken" him in 1 of the other clones. You see this as at the end of the original cloud's consciousness fly's into the lifestream because he is still there! That's the main source of jenovas power. Cloud finally finishing him off ends jenovas power and you see the red energy of jenova being absorbed into the lifestream and turning green

Jenova is loosely based off of Lavos from Chrono Trigger. A planet destroying parasite that mimics the appearance of the most dominant species of that planet and drives it to destruction. When Sephiroth fused with Jenova, he adopted that purpose from her influence.
