While at the surface, this is only the version that's a direct upgrade from a JP-only one, the fact that they're implementing those things at all is... let's just say
deeply concerning. Right from the start it sounds like the early rumblings of Nintendo pushing harder to get back to the days of tightly-controlled, geographically-isolated content –
which is BULLSHIT.
There's no reason to do something like this and have a price point attached to it, unless there's a monetary incentive attached to everything about doing it, and putting emphasis on region-locking that's hardware-specific bodes ill. Especially since they're ALREADY charging to get the Switch 2 upgrade versions of Switch games, there's a whole extra layer of,
"We made it so that this thing you bought doesn't work on your version unless you pay us again." baked into the core of that ecosystem.
Very much hoping to see what some folks have to say about this once there's been more time to get official responses & see the larger-scale public feedback on it.
That being said, I think I've played a grand total of maybe 3 games on my Switch
ever, so it seems like for me, the entire thing will be a calculation of seeing just how much I want to invest in a
Duskbloods gaming device.
