The fail point here is insane. The sliding of the Switch was better than fine it was awesome. This pokey magnetic thing? These things are going to break like crazy.

Wait until they release a version that isn’t horribly designed.

Does anyone remember the horrible launch of the Switch cause I do. This thing will tear apart in the hands of kids very easily.

or more? Will people pay 450-500 dollars for PS4-level hardware?

I think they would, you know; the restyling makes it look more aimed at 'serious' gamers (lmao), and recently there's been price increases across the board that didn't seem to affect sales much. The Switch probably could've been sold for more if they wanted to. Then again, the PS5 Pro doesn't seem all that popular, and I think that's in part due to the price point (note I have no sources, I just made that up based on nobody talking about it ever).

While at the surface, this is only the version that's a direct upgrade from a JP-only one, the fact that they're implementing those things at all is... let's just say deeply concerning. Right from the start it sounds like the early rumblings of Nintendo pushing harder to get back to the days of tightly-controlled, geographically-isolated content – which is BULLSHIT.

There's no reason to do something like this and have a price point attached to it, unless there's a monetary incentive attached to everything about doing it, and putting emphasis on region-locking that's hardware-specific bodes ill. Especially since they're ALREADY charging to get the Switch 2 upgrade versions of Switch games, there's a whole extra layer of, "We made it so that this thing you bought doesn't work on your version unless you pay us again." baked into the core of that ecosystem.

Very much hoping to see what some folks have to say about this once there's been more time to get official responses & see the larger-scale public feedback on it.

That being said, I think I've played a grand total of maybe 3 games on my Switch ever, so it seems like for me, the entire thing will be a calculation of seeing just how much I want to invest in a Duskbloods gaming device.

Nintendo is really going to push for empty cartriges?

Wait so it costs as much as a PS5 for worse performance, with digital games costing more than the PS5's physical games and Physical cartridges being 90 dollars with games not really on them. Not to mention those exclusive memory cards well it was a good run for the switch either we will see a 3DS type of situation or another Wii U.

For a portable device and chipset size, having "worse performance" than PS5 is fine, you have to be realistic. Pretty in line with the Steam Deck and other handheld PCs.

Not when they are charging as much as a PS5, you can get a PS5 with Astro Bot bundled together for $449.99 and a digital version for $399.99, I am sorry but I don’t see how the switch is pulling its weight with ports and remasters of older games that are readily available.
