Game mechanics and memory issues. It's less costly for the system to make the corpses dissolve than having the models lying around. That's also one of the reasons why in some other games the corpses disappear past a few hours, or when you get out of the area and come back. It's just a meta...

Getting the lore is neat, but I personally loved the emotional impact both the anime and the DLC have on the ending stages. Depending on whether or not you have seen and played them, you get a very different reaction and reading from several characters.

Episode Ardyn must be played the last. The main reason is that you get two very different reading of the canon ending before and after you get to know what really happened to Ardyn.

The Astrals definitely speak in another language, save for Bahamut. @Cappuccino, try to play all the DLCs if you can. They are fun, plus they add a LOT to the storyline. Perhaps Gladiolus' is not that important storywise, but you get cool stuff in the main game for finishing that DLC.

I fully expect the second game to make you start at level 1-5 with no materia and the explanation would be that the singularity messed things up. You might have a perk or two from having a save file from chapter 1, but your party would be pretty much nerfed. I'm not joking, folks, sorry.
