    I declare that you are my girlfriend. Does that make me your girlfriend? No, it doesn't. The same works with Aerith and Cloud. Just because Aerith declared Cloud as her lover doesn't make him her lover. Aerith may consider Cloud as her boyfriend, but why assume that Cloud feels the same way...
