Just to keep stirring the love triangle debate further, PlayStation Japan and China tweeted Cloud x Tifa. In PS Japan, they tweeted the theme of #love across various PS4 games with FFVIIR having Cloud and Tifa’s resolution scene.

So the song “Hollow” seems to reference Cloud and Zack. Makes sense. It was the song played up right at the end during “that” cutscene.

In the OG game, he was apparently none the wiser in regards to both of the ladies. It’s true that Cloud can be clueless in such matters.

Never said Aerith’s scene didn’t fit perfectly. It was in response to the assertion that Tifa’s scene isn’t as “canon” as Aerith’s which I proceeded to point out that isn’t true. They both fit narratively depending on the perspective of the player.

That, and it’s also fitting because of the loss Tifa and the Avalanche crew just suffered. It hits home the emotions they are feeling at that moment due to their homes just being destroyed (again) and the losses they have suffered (again). Narratively it fits just perfect.

Agreed. The way he ended up holding her really tight, letting all his reservations and showing his true self, was pretty romantic to me. That’s how their romance works, showing each other their emotions “without words”.

I heard Cody Christian prefers Tifa too when asked that question in an interview. I can’t find it though. And the Japanese to English translation is rearing it’s head again in the love triangle debates again lol.

Exactly. When taking everything into account, I just have a hard time seeing Cloud and Aerith that way for the reasons you mentioned. Cloud X Aerith in a vacuum works fine, romantic even in a tragic sense. However when looking at everything together, it doesn’t hold up imo for many reasons...

That said, their is also a strong preference for Tifa too because of her role in the story and her connection to Cloud which cannot be understated. When the game came out, I remember Clerith to be the more popular ship by quite a significant amount but as more discussion and discourse happened...

The LTD is going to get messy from what I’ve seen so far (as if it hasn’t already been). Obviously I can’t post spoilers yet, but it will be a very interesting discussion yet again.

That’s the thing. I’m not against Cloud loving Aerith, both in the past and heck, even in the present and future. If you ship/love the couple, all the more power to you. I won’t bring anybody down about that. It still doesn’t take away the fact Cloud loves Tifa. To deny that last statement...

I see. No wonder Clerith shippers have been so salty and paranoid haha. While I do feel for the Clerith shippers who don’t partake in the toxicity of the ship wars, I can’t help but feel what goes around comes around, especially with their assaults on the integrity of the TLS translations...

I can understand their greviances for the OtWtaS official translation. However, I just don’t understand the greviance towards the Ultimania translation. Official translation or not, we know it’s love. Their mutual feelings are about love. And it cannot be something that’s ephemeral or fleeting...
