It's possible, though if I am using Remake's aesthetic as a marker then I have to assume every traversable area will have it's own unique look and feel. That area looks far too similar to the mythril mines from earlier for me to think it is a separate location.

Look how neatly all of these areas can be divided into huge zones. This is a great way to shape up world travel for Rebirth and beyond, assuming they use this updated world map (and I bet they will).

Yeah, that's making the wait for Rebirth VERY difficult for me.

I have these screens blown way up to look at them. I even have side-by-sides of the game footage so I can see the little differences in the localized footage. I am preposterously excited for this game.

There are a lot of reasons why Yuffie's design could have changed. From regional design guidelines, to multiverse variations, to basic character growth. Honestly would be impressed if they addressed it in-game. I doubt it, though. I'd be down for them using un-used concepts and ideas like...

Seems like a short time to have a proper marketing campaign if they're really releasing this winter. Of course, it could be argued Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII-related materials market themselves and thus don't really need a proper marketing campaign, but that seems... unheard of.

Well, I think the reasoning is they've done a fair bit of cross contamination in their marketing in the past. Though you're right. They seem much more focused and on-message these days. Still expecting something by summer though.

I certainly lean that way myself, though I have to admit my own opinion there is bent that direction due to my personal bias toward the original narrative. When I look at the developer's statements by themselves, I see a willingness to change things to the extent it may throw us all off guard...

It's such a great and obvious point to end/begin a game I actually doubt they'll do it. in fact, I think they'll do exactly like what you mentioned in there. Some other Whisper-like, and definitely different, sort of ending.
