TGS '10 Thread?

I dunno, I just didn't think this game needed a whole thread for it. So you cnapst incidental TGS stuff here if you want guess.

But anyway, I know i jsut defended Dissidia 2 being on PSP, but dammit all Valkyria Chronicles 3 is on it too.

This game STARTED on PS3 (and did reasonably well I think), so stop relegating to PSP you assholes. You know, Sony's bitching that they're getting killed on the PSP due to piracy, but if that's the case, why do developers keep making stuff for it, especially this game which has proven to sell for PS3?
Either Sony is strong-arming developers into making stuff for it, or they're exaggerating the piracy issue.

I think that Sony also doesn't realize that homebrew-ability does sell units to a degree, so really I think that piracy like that only kills games FOR a system. Still something bad, but not quite the same as they're talking about.

ANYWAYS.

I thought that Asura's Wrath looked pretty badass.

I want to know what Atlus has announced at TGS.

And if it isn't HD console Shin Megami Tensei, I'll be very disappointed.

But that doesn't explain why developers WANT to make stuff for it. (And for the record, I'm glad they do, I do like my PSP - just not this game dammit!)

And that's pretty funny, an Eastern mythology God of War :P

Risk?

I kinda understand why they do it. Games on consoles are multimillion dollar projects that even if they go slightly wrong, can make a company go belly up. It seems like just to be competitive, you need better graphics, huge servers, greater CGI, longer years just to make less. I don't think it's necessarily true, but it does feel like it.

This is lessened to an extent for psp. You don't need those huge production teams, don't need to stay ahead of the graphics games, and don't have to waste five years for one game. It may seem lazy, but game companies are still a business, and it just makes sense to them.

I wish that, though, because they can take bigger risks on PSP games, that they actually would. Handheld games could potentially be a great platform for creativity the way independent games are. If companies are more willing to put projects out for the psp because there is a less impact if the game doesn't go well, then there should be more effort to branch out and try new things.

Oh and Sony really, really, really wants some of that Nintendo handheld market. Sort of like why there's a billion WoW like MMO's. They knows there a market there, let's try it.

I understand all that, but risk is kinda moot if everyone just downloads the game, who cares how small your production team was.
And again, VC ALREADY DID REASONABLY WELL ON A CONSOLE. It just bugs me because VC had such awesome visuals, it was a great art style, and they can't duplicate it on these PSP versions.

If they used PSP projects to fund a console project, I wouldn't mind so much.

But everyone just seems to use any profits from PSP projects to make... another PSP game.

Eh, the same can be said for computer games. Why make computer games when there is probably a bigger chance for piracy?

Although, why they put VC on the PSP, who knows. Not familiar with the series enough, it could be laziness.
Despite having garnered positive press, sales of the game have been mixed. While it sold 77,000 copies in its first week of release in Japan, it only sold 33,000 copies in the United States during November 2008.[33] It was the 93rd best-selling game in Japan in 2008, selling 141,589 copies.[34] Despite weak initial North American sales, Valkyria Chronicles recovered somewhat with sales sharply increasing in April 2009 following a price cut[35][36] and the simultaneous release of an anime based on the game.
Or just hope for a bigger profit margin. (It's wikipedia, so take it with a grain of salt)

I honestly don't know what's with the fascination with megafranchises and putting out dozens of sequels for the handheld market. They don't necessarily need that buffer. Oh well.

Because there's massive profits to be made? The 360 gets just as much piracy if not MORE than the pc and it has no problem selling.

The PC game market is huge, look at how many WoW subscribers there are all over the world.

Then this probably is the same answer for the psp games. Sure, piracy hurts their sales, but not enough to make them stop making portable games. The market is not be as big, but money that goes into it isn't as big either, and they can make more in a shorter amount of time.

I'm not arguing it's a great idea to focus so strongly on PSP games, just that there's an economic advantage toward in.

I'd like to see a study on how much piracy affects sales on portable games. They bitch a lot, but they still are always placing emphasis on their portable systems anyway.

I dunno, the DS has a pretty huge market.

The PSP, comparatively, does not, but is made to sound like it has the worse piracy problem (which I'm not entirely sure is true given M4s and all that)

Do you understand now why I hate the PSP? It's the same with the Castlevania series. I hate how they force you to own every system if you want to follow a saga :(

And Dissidia could have been for the PS2, just like Crisis Core could have also been.

[/whine]

Now that we are with the TGS, I'll name some titles:

Ace Attorney Investigations 2 :excited: (no vids yet :( )

Ni No Kuni (which makes me cry for the possible disappearing of Ghibli) http://www.gametrailers.com/video/tgs-10-ni-no-kuni/704722

Castlevania: Lord of Shadows

But Dissidia STARTED on PSP, so its not like Crisis Core where you had to get a PSP to follow something you were already invested in. By your logic it would be WORSE if Dissidia 2 were on something else because it would force dissidia fans to have some other console.

Ace Attorney Investigations 2

And isn't this on a hand held? :shifty:

Lol! You got me :P

Anyway, Ace Attorney belongs to NDS and it doesn't have any spin-off on any other system, aside from the ports to the Wii; if you want to enjoy playing with the chareacters, you only need one system.

I just wanted to whine about not having a PSP

Also - Crisis Core was a LAUNCH title for the PSP, in case anyone forgot.

The 3rd Birthday 12/22 release date!!! YYYYEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
Hopefully that means that a US release is soon after. The game looks fucking EPIC.

FUCK that if (visions of) Maya shows back up. (In a good way). It makes sense, being as it assumes that you didn't defeat her in the Chrysler Building in the first game, but good god, she creeped the hell out of me.

I like how no one gives a shit about the leaked footage of Versus.

Everyone else is frothing over 33 seconds of Noctis running around and one obscure battle scene. Going on about how "realistic it is" lol.

The graphics DO look pretty good, admittedly (I'm not sure what about throwing yourself off a cliff is realistic though). 33 seconds just isn't enough to get very excited over. It's nice to see it playing though.

I'd totally love to fantard over Versus. But they need to give me something to fantard for. I don't know why Nomura even bothered showing that, there was so little, it was underwhelming.

I'm not sure Versus really exists. It's some elaborate prank, they'll just continue to talk about how great it is and always push the date back.
