Japan to finally receive PC port of FFVII

Frontpage Newspost

The PC market in Japan has never been quite as lucrative as in parts of the world like North America or Europe, which is usually what fans take as an explanation for the complete lack of a Japanese PC port of Final Fantasy VII.

Yesterday however, on April 25th, Square Enix uploaded a trailer for a Japanese port of Final Fantasy VII International. The trailer is the same as the one for the European and American PC release last year, with the only difference being added Japanese subtitles.

No release date has been set, other than that it is coming "soon". Great thanks to TheLifestream member AvecAloes for bringing this news to our attention. =)

Tomorrow, on May 16th, Japan will receive the PC port of FFVII International. Japan will also receive a PC port of FFVIII, but if I'm understanding the article correctly there is no set release date yet.

If Japan never had a PC re-release, what text are they releasing it with? I wonder if they'll re-do some of it.

Trying to buy from the Japanese SE store was not as easy as I would have hoped. Because from the looks of it I have to go through a One-time password process.

Which apparently also applies in an English login system, but they use a separate login system for the Euro/NA store.

Am I missing something? I imagine this would be easier if there was a wireless connection my iPod Touch could connect to.

I'm afraid to even try purchasing the Japanese edition. Won't installing the Japanese version somehow delete my European edition of FFVII PC2012?

I don't know. But you can always redownload the European version from here (assuming you bought from the EU store, are logged-in, and have previously purchased the game).

I'm mainly interested in the files, so it doesn't me that much if I can't have both installed at the same time. But I'd hope I could.
