I figured that maybe we should have a topic on here for the Dissidia section. This one being dedicated to the outfits of each character.

To start off: Garland and the Warrior of Light

The Warrior's default Outfit and his DLC outift "Nameless Warrior" are based on the original Famicom cover of the first game (with the EX mode version matching the colors even closer)

His second outfit "Amethyst Armor," is based on concept art for the first game (which suggests that the Behemoth was going to be in the game) while the EX Mode resembles an alternate coloration of the original box art

The third outfit is "Classic Red." This outfit is based upon the original sprite for the Fighter Class in the NES and MSX releases (and popularly used by Brian Clevenger in 8-bit Theater). The EX mode version is not a recolor, but rather, another throwback to the classic game: his model changes to resemble the Knight Class in the MSX and NES versions.

Garland's default Outfit is based on his appearance from the original NES version of the first game as there was no art to work with. Meanwhile his EX Mode turns his cape white to resemble the Silver gear from the first game.

Garland's second outfit is "Stalwart Armor" This time, his outfit is based on existing artwork from Dawn of Souls. The Cream Colored Cape in EX Mode has no significant ties.

Garland's third outfit "Discord Incarnate," is something else entirely. Garland's form is based on a possible second form from the original game, which was cut in order to build the suspense leading up to Chaos called the Cloudsea Djinn. In EX Mode, Garland's Swordchucks now sport fire possibly signifiying Mt. Gurugu.

Obviously since in the original game Garland became Chaos, I thought it would be fair to include him.

Chaos's main appearance is physically based on concept art by Yoshitaka Amano which was later recreated in game. The colors used are taken from his sprite from remakes of the original game.

As Feral Chaos, his first form is based on the usual depictions of Hell and Satan, most notably Chernabog from Disney's Fantasia (an animated version of Satan).

F.C.'s alternate form, "Jade Dissonance," is based on the Esper Chaos from Final Fantasy XII.

Both of Feral Chaos's EX Modes are completely swathed in hellfire.

The next post is centered around Firion and Mateus, the hero and villain respectively of Final Fantasy II

Firion's default outfit is based directly on his appearance on the Famicom boxart of FFII (as well as the North American cover of Origins). All of his weapons stem from FFII as well, namely Abel's Lance (the ultimate weapon of Richard Highwind), Longinus (the ultimate weapon of Leon), Rebellion Army, and Wild Rose (the ultimate weapon of Scott), while weilding Minwu's Sheild. In EX Mode, all of his equptiment is based on the coloration of the Blood Sword.

Firion's first al is "Spiky Hair". This outfit is based on artwork by Yoshitaka Amano. In EX Mode, his armor takes on a golden colorm based on the cast shot.

His second alt "Bone Band" is based on his art used for the Symphonic Suite CD. Like with Garland's second EX mode colors, Firion's also has no siginificant ties to FFII.

Mateus is the first villain in the games to have four outfits. His first one is based directly on his official art by Yoshitaka Amano, which in turn is based on David Bowie. In EX Mode, Mateus absorbs the powers of Satan and transforms into the Emperor of Hell again based on artwork by Amano.

His first alt "Silver Despot," is based on and alternate artwork. The EX Mode form is recolored to fit this coloration.

His second alt "Violet Robe," is based on his appearances in the FMV sequences of the PlayStation versions of FFII. Like with "Silver Despot," EX Mode follows the Violet Robe colors.

In an interesting twist, the DLC outfit for the Emporer of Palmecia "Arubboth" is based on his appearance as the Emporer of Arubboth in the GBA and PSP versions of the game. Instead of transforming into the Emporer of Hell again, EX Mode gives him a halo.

The third entry to this ongoing topic also happens to be the final two characters of the 8-bit Era: The Onion Kid and the Cloud of Darkness

By default, the Onion Kid resembles his original sprite from the NES game, with some elements taken from concept art of an unnamed warrior. In EX Mode, the Kid will become either a Ninja or a Sage, the two ultimate jobs in the original game.

The kid's first alt is known as "Luneth," with his colors changing to resemble the main hero of the DS version of FFIII while he is an Onion Knight. EX Mode follows this coloration by using the same colors used by Luneth as a Sage.

His second alt is the "Slasher." This one is directly based on the Unnamed Warrior featured in promotional art of the original game. In EX Mode. the colors of the Ninja and Sage change to a bright green, reflecting the coloration of player 3 in the original game.

As a DLC, the Kid gets a fourth outfit "Ingus," which resembles the fourth hero in the DS version of the game, with the EX Mode following that same rule.

The Cloud of Darkness has her normal outfit based on previously unseen concept art by Yoshitaka Amano. In EX Mode, she transforms into a form similar to her appearance in her source game.

Her first alt, "Dark Robe," is possibly based on her pawn, the warlock Xande. It is with this outfit that she has two different colors in EX Mode, depending on the game being played. In Dissidia her appearance is based on her form in the DS version. In 012, her colors are instead taken from the NES game, this time going by her appearance while invincible.

Her second alt, "Lucent Robe," is based on a story element from FFIII, which states that the Dark Warriors had to face a Cloud of Light as envisioned here by andsportsART. EX Mode follows this idea as well.

Moving from the 8-bit heroes and villains to the 16-bit golden age of RPGs, our fourth post is centered around the cast of Final Fantasy IV. Arguably, this is the first game to be represented in Dissidia not to show its true villain, Zeromus.

To start we have the Knight of the (Adj.) Moon himself, Lord Cecil Harvey. Cecil himself is difficult to describe seeing that he has two forms for each outfit: Dark Knight and Paladin.

In his default outfit, Cecil is colored much like official art by Yoshitaka Amano, with EX Mode being more of a weapon change than a complete change. As such, he trades his halberds for Deathbringer and Lightbringer.

His first alt, "Red Moon," is based on supplemental drawings for the original game. Like with Firion's EX Mode, both of Cecil's swords take on a blood red color, symbolising the Red Moon, the home of his Lunarian family.

Cecil's second alt, "Silver Moon," is based directly on his appearance in the DS version of FFIV.

As a DLC bonus for purchasing "FFIV The Complete Collection," players will access a new outfit for Cecil, "Twin Moon." In this outfit, Cecil's appearance is based directly on his sprite from the SNES version of the game.

For Kain Highwind's default outfit, his armor is taken directly from official art for FFIV. In EX Mode, he sheds his inner darkness and becomes a Holy Dragoon. In his default outfit, his Holy Armor is based on his appearance at the end of FFIV.

Kain's first alt, "Noir Dragoon," is based on Dark Kain from the GBA and PSP versions of FFIV and the After Years. In EX Mode, Kain is directly based on his holy appearance from the After Years.

Kain's second alt "Light Seeker," is the Hooded Man from the After Years, with EX Mode matching the colors of his sprite and his regular appearance based on official art.

Finally we hit Theodor "Golbez" Harvey. Just as a bit of forewarning, in EX mode for all three outfits, he merges with his summon the Dark Dragon. By default, Golbez is based on official art of the game.

Golbez's first alt, "Cloak of Flame" is based on his appearance from the DS version.

Golbez's second alt is the Man in Black from the After Years.
