It's that time again! TLS is going to hold its next community playthrough next month, January 2015.
If you haven't taken part in a community playthrough before, the idea is that lots of our members play through a specific game at (roughly) the same time. A small portion of the game, called a chapter, will be assigned every few days / every week, and you can play it at any time, or join in with a Skype call where we all play it together. After you have played, you can post about your experiences and join in with discussion about the game. It doesn't matter whether you're a first-time player a seasoned veteran or anything in between - everyone is welcome to join in
Because this will be the first event with our new TLS structure, and as our member base has changed considerably over the last couple of years, I'm willing to put everything back on the table, including the games we've already played (Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX).
You can nominate whatever game you want, in other words. As I'm planning to run two community playthroughs a year, I will make sure at least one of them is a game with "Final Fantasy" in the title, but the other one can be any suitable game. A suitable game is one which has a story, a clear beginning and end, and a save function - so no sports games, sandbox games, MMOs etc. RPGs are a safe bet, Final Fantasy or otherwise.
Nominations will be open for a couple of weeks, after which we'll have a poll to decide which game to play. The games with the most nominations will make it onto the poll. (I just say that so I don't have to put 100 games on it; if there aren't many nominations, every game will make it.)
Some games are easier to obtain than others: anything on an old (up to PS1/N64 generation) console is easy to emulate, for example, and plenty of games are available cheaply on Steam. Bear that in mind, but don't let it stop you from nominating certain games altogether. I'll make each game's platform and availability clear when we have the poll, so people can only vote for the games they are actually able to play.
I would like to run the playthrough in tandem with someone else, as it's a lot of work for one person on their own, so please indicate if you're an expert on the game you're nominating and you'd be willing to help out.
The current nomination list can be found here.

What game do you want TLS to play in January? Perhaps there's a game you've been meaning to try for ages, or maybe there's a game you love that you want to show everyone. Nominate them here!
