Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs

Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs is an indirect sequel to the acclaimed survival horror title—The Dark Descent, its predecessor, developed by Frictional Games. This sequel is being developed by the thechineseroom, an independent game development studio, in collaboration with the former. The game is expected to be released on 28th of February 2013 (Seems the release date is put forward again, to May 2013). It is notable that the game was scheduled an earlier release, though was put forward due to high anticipation.

Definitely looking forward to this branch of horror, and you can bet its leaves will pike a similar pinch as its root... if you are into that kind of thing.

Why is he running away from pigs? The ones from the first game feels scarier, this one is about him confronting a swine flu epidemic??

Visually yes, I agree. The replacement of the original set is there for variation, I guess. Still, we have yet to see these swine (in action, even). Keep in mind that those trailers show small portions, and are cut editorially, that is to say it's not an LP, which would be better, I think.

I want this. Amnesia was the first game to properly scare me since SH3. Like I could only play it in the daytime scary.

That is pretty insightful at an angle. I mean, the world of Amnesia seems to grow fruit of what happened in a past of some sort. For example, the monsters in the Silent Hill titles mirror what happened at a particular time during the course of the given protagonist, and thus the protagonist is beaten physically, and mentally by this structure. These monsters take the form of certain, eventful objects. To reflect this in Amnesia, you have the monsters which look twisted after the agony of the torture theme going on throughout The Dark Descent (not going to say too much in case of spoiler leak). The same applies to A Machine For Pigs after a read through of the synopsis.

Justine was rock hard. To my shame I had to use a guide... Which I then misread and ended up getting killed. Serves me right I guess :monster:

In late May 2013, Jens Nilsson, one of the owners of Frictional Games, stated in a Frictional Games forum post that: "We know we will not make Q2 (2013), we also know when the game will be ready for launch. We have not set the exact day yet. You can however make good use of the weather outside this summer and look forward to gaming with the piggies as the summer comes to an end."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amnesia:_A_Machine_for_Pigs#cite_note-8 This means that the game will be released late summer or early Autumn, nearly a year later than the originally proposed release date around Halloween 2012.

This better be good.

Official website.

As for the plot, I have no idea, save for what's written in there. I'm quite curious what this 'machine' actually does, and if it's for pigs literally.. it's weird.

My only worry is getting nauseous from the gameplay. It was a labor for me to finish Descent-- I had to stop every 5 or 10 minutes and that really killed the suspense :closedmonster:
