Chrono Trigger Sequel was repurposed into a mobile game

I think this might be the only time they legitimately acknowledge the existence of Chrono Break. And it's depressing.

"There was actually a time when I planned a new title called Chrono Break," Tokita explained via email. "Though it was canceled before accomplishing anything, the overall idea for the title was carried over to my latest game, Final Fantasy Dimensions II. Aemo’s character setting and the balance between the three characters at the beginning…these were based on the original concept [for Chrono Break] but were reworked for this title."

I saw this, and to be honest I'm not surprised.

A lot of Square games were experimental back then (Bushido Blade, Ehrgeiz, Einhander, etc), as they hadn't exactly found their niche yet.

Still, I think what they did with Chrono Cross was superb to at least close the book.

But if I'm waxing nostalgic, I just play Final Fantasy XIII-2 once in a while... as it evokes the same emotions I had about Chrono Trigger.

Final Fantasy Dimensions is no slouch either, as far as I'm aware the plot goes.
