Community playthrough game nomvote

I'm stealing Lex's word (nomvote). Deal with it. :neo:

Rather than go through a nomination process followed by a vote, I thought we could just get straight down to business, since we normally do this a few weeks earlier. This time, nominating a game is the same as voting for it, and we'll play whichever game picks up the most nominations/votes/nomvotes.

You can nomvote any game you like (except Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VII, which we played last year), providing it has a story, a clear beginning and end, and a save function. That means no sports games, sandbox games, MMOs, and so on. It doesn't have to be a Final Fantasy game - if we don't play one now, we'll definitely do so next time.

Nomvoting will be open until midday (UTC/UK time) on Sunday the 24th of January. You can make as many nomvotes as you want. You don't have to make them all at once, but if you decide to add some later, please make a new post rather than editing your previous one to make sure I see it.

It's an event in which lots of our members play through a game at roughly the same time. A small portion of the game, called a chapter, will be assigned every few days / every week, and you can play it at any time, or join a hangout where we all play it together. After you've played, you can post about your experiences and take part in a discussion. It doesn't matter whether you're a first-time player, a seasoned veteran or anything in between - everyone is welcome to join in!

I'll start us off by nomvoting Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy XIII. I nominated both of them last time as well but we ended up playing VII instead. :sigh:

Edit: current vote count here.

I second your vote for V (we'll be on it shortly with the Retrospective anyhow).

I'll also mix things up a little and nomvote Super Mario RPG. It's Square-ish. And that's not just a joke about the isometric view!

Final Fantasy Legends 2!

Or Saga Frontier, despite its 7 main characters gimmick.

Having bought it on the Wii VC and remaining on my backlog ever since, I second the Super Mario RPG vote :monster:

Well, with IX about to hit any time now on Steam, that seems like a good thing to play (since most will be jumping on it anyway). So, a definite vote for that!

I also wouldn't mind taking a look back at XIII and see if my thoughts of the game have improved with age.

I've always abandoned VI when you have to reunite the entire party before the final battle. So, I definitely need something to help me finally complete that game!

I second Secret of Mana. That's one that I always wanted to play and never got around to.

This had better be Final Fantasy V's time, dammit. It was going to win last time before people started swinging executive decisions around.

Failing that, I'd be willing to go with Final Fantasy XII.

FFVII ended up winning by a small margin because the remake was announced during the vote. I was so disappointed XD. I mean I love VII and I get it, but I knew as soon as remake fever wore off people would drop out of the playthrough and that's exactly what happened :closedmonster:

Idk what you mean about executive decisions?
