Cosmos Reports (Spoilers)

[Strangelove]

When you beat the game, you unlock 'Cosmos Reports' and 'Chaos Reports', which are meant to be secret documents written by a mysterious individual.

This is the first one that's unlocked (or at least, the one unlocked by completing the game with Warrior of Light):

There lies in your memories great significance.
As you have come to realise yourself,
it is very likely that that story is of great relevance
to the present catastrophe.

I wonder if that's so...
All I am about to tell is merely the story of a single researcher,
and of a mother and her child.

By telling this story,
it may just bring further chaos
to the people of a world already sinking into an abyss of despair.

To keep the documents containing the story you will tell from ever getting out,
I intend to seal it away, deeply hidden.

When one day it will be discovered and read
by one who can appreciate it...
The story may have already become myth by then.
We have the obligation to preserve them.
Stories are, after all, the proof that people have lived.

Now, please tell me the story
etched in your memories...

You would have never thought that such a small child could have
been born concealing such tremendous power.
The State was meant to take care of him until his power was fostered,
but we took him in and decided that
we would raise him as our own child.
Looking into those innocent eyes, could we have made any other choice?

We were painfully aware of the fact that
he was not our child; he was State property.
That someday he would be taken away, and what that meant.

My husband seemed to have doubts about the work assigned to him.
His previous inventions, the sky stones and airships...
These were things which enriched people's lives,
but that child was different. He was a tool of war.

However, disaster was soon close at hand.
We had no other means of resistance against the neighbouring nation's
summoned beasts and the weapon known as Omega.

He had to continue his research,
to protect our peace.

The child was starting to learn to talk,
and tried his hardest to put the words together, so he could communicate with us.
He called me 'mummy', and my husband 'daddy',
and we felt not even the slightest doubt about loving him.

He had made us smile.
He had given us, so fearful of war,
a moment's happiness.

But, that was soon brought to an end.
The war... at last, it had begun.

The child was separated from us.
The army, in an effort to bring a quick end to the war,
decided to send the child in.

I took my child, and tried to escape with my husband.
That was when it happened.
I was found by a soldier, and I was stuck by a bullet.

From far off, I thought I heard
my child's sorrowful scream.

At that same moment, a horrible foreboding
began to swell within my heart.
The trace of hatred, in the depths of those eyes...

My foreboding proved correct.
Before my child formed a small distortion in space-time.
Soon the distortion began to consume everything.
The darkness swelled to an extraordinary size...

That was when I lost consciousness.
When I came to, all I could see was
a demolished research lab.

My child and husband were nowhere to be seen.

This sounds...very intriguing. Oh man.

Please translate the next ones you do as you playthrough. I'm guessing the final piece of this game's story will be revealed once you unlock all of these and thus read them together. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Now I wonder...is the author of this document talking to Warrior of Light in this? Did he...seal this story inside of his mind, giving him amnesia? I'm so lost!

I thought it might have been Cosmos. I think (though aren't sure) neither Cosmos nor Chaos remember what happened before (only Garland really does), and near the end Chaos has a line saying something about memories from every world flowing into him, so it might have something to do with that.

It's Cid of the Lufenians. That info is revealed in the game's credits.

Perhaps this is speaking of the "13th World, that is to be revealed" as per the Dissida tagline? ??? From everything that's been told of the game, nothing really refers to the tagline other than there's been 12 Final Fantasies, with FF13 coming out soon.

Though the part about the researcher and the mother+child seems like it's most likely refering to Cid, and possibly Chaos/Cosmos.

Have you tried using Cloud? Cloud I hear has a really good Brave/Aerial HP attack combo (Omnislash Ver. 5) that can be endless if you do it right. I saw it on Youtube and the person just schooled Chaos in like a minute.

Who's closest to Lv. 100? Props for beating the game with Warrior of Light too. I hear he isn't the easy person to use.

Cloud's story was the easiest difficulty setting along with Cecil (WoL's was actually the hardest, I think), and he was supposed to be easy to use. Maybe I should try it with him next.

My cheap trick (I like the term 'strategy' better ) was just to use map skills to get Chaos' HP down over 50% for the first fight then use Shining Wave as soon as the battle start (since I was 50 levels higher than him, I had a big Brave bonus anyway). Then Ex-Mode > Shining Wave > Oversoul on the second round. Then just hope he doesn't kill me on the third time

I don't think it'll be about FFXIII, at least nothing meaningful, since they didn't give permission to use its character because that would mean solidify stuff about it. I can't see why they'd then put something else in there.

I took it to be referring to XIII, Hitoshura. That introduction seems to be speaking more about FF as a series than just Dissidia.

I didn't mean the trailer thing, that's obviously FFXIII. Just that the Cosmos Report probably isn't.

Maybe tomorrow after I finish my exam Probably with Cloud, who's level 91. So I'll be seeing if they unlock in order or depending on which character you use. I hope it's in order, because otherwise I'll be skipping 5 reports

To answer my own question, which report you get depends on which character you use. So Cloud gave me report no. 7, which was random and confusing without reports 2~6. So I guess it's Frioniel (lv. 42) next

I'll put up 7 anyway, when I'm not as tired

And Chaos is pretty easy with Cloud

I raised an eyebrow when beating the game with Cloud unlocks a 'cross dressing' accessory set to buy, but was disappointed when I realised you probably wouldn't be able to fight as Lady Cloud with them
