The Killer of Kefka
I figured that maybe we should have a topic on here for the Dissidia section. This one being dedicated to the outfits of each character.
To start off: Garland and the Warrior of Light
The Warrior's default Outfit and his DLC outift "Nameless Warrior" are based on the original Famicom cover of the first game (with the EX mode version matching the colors even closer)
His second outfit "Amethyst Armor," is based on concept art for the first game (which suggests that the Behemoth was going to be in the game) while the EX Mode resembles an alternate coloration of the original box art
The third outfit is "Classic Red." This outfit is based upon the original sprite for the Fighter Class in the NES and MSX releases (and popularly used by Brian Clevenger in 8-bit Theater). The EX mode version is not a recolor, but rather, another throwback to the classic game: his model changes to resemble the Knight Class in the MSX and NES versions.
Garland's default Outfit is based on his appearance from the original NES version of the first game as there was no art to work with. Meanwhile his EX Mode turns his cape white to resemble the Silver gear from the first game.
Garland's second outfit is "Stalwart Armor" This time, his outfit is based on existing artwork from Dawn of Souls. The Cream Colored Cape in EX Mode has no significant ties.
Garland's third outfit "Discord Incarnate," is something else entirely. Garland's form is based on a possible second form from the original game, which was cut in order to build the suspense leading up to Chaos called the Cloudsea Djinn. In EX Mode, Garland's Swordchucks now sport fire possibly signifiying Mt. Gurugu.
Obviously since in the original game Garland became Chaos, I thought it would be fair to include him.
Chaos's main appearance is physically based on concept art by Yoshitaka Amano which was later recreated in game. The colors used are taken from his sprite from remakes of the original game.
As Feral Chaos, his first form is based on the usual depictions of Hell and Satan, most notably Chernabog from Disney's Fantasia (an animated version of Satan).
F.C.'s alternate form, "Jade Dissonance," is based on the Esper Chaos from Final Fantasy XII.
Both of Feral Chaos's EX Modes are completely swathed in hellfire.
