And considering that we see black feathers being synonimous with Sephiroth since pratically the beginning of the Remake, it didn't surprised that much that he already sported the wing.

Though it will be interesting to see what they will do with Safer Sephiroth.
Yeah. But that doesn’t change the fact that he never sported a black wing in the OG. It’s a clear contradiction from the OG.

You guys may want to check out the Easy Allies spoiler podcast with Max Dood as guest if you haven’t already. They put forth a convincing argument for the time travel theory.

For example - right before Cloud’s supposed to meet Aerith for the first time Seph pulls Cloud into a trance where he lures him into a dark alley. He specifically places his hand on Aerith’s shoulder, appears to freeze time in place, and tells Cloud ‘you can’t save anyone.’

It’s as if he already knows Cloud wants to save Aerith.

While this is happening.. the whispers begin to swirl around Aerith to delay her so she still meets Cloud while he’s in his trance.

‘Remake’ according to this theory, refers to a remake of the OG’s timeline and not the game itself.. like fans thought. A play on words, culminating in the act of Sephiroth traveling back to the OG timeline with a butterfly effect that the whispers are trying to correct.

I have already seen/listened to that and I just don’t agree with it. Sephiroth has been sporting wings in in a forms of FFVII material since the mid 2000s, the fact that it’s part of the Remake really shouldn’t come as a surprise or require a Watsonian time travel explanation for it.

They somewhat halfway retconned this a long time ago, though. That life-sized Sephiroth figure in the floor at the Square Enix Store in Japan depicts Seph with the Black Materia inside the materia tree in the Northern Crater -- and to get to the point, it features him with his black wing:

Sephiroth did have his one wing, in Crisis Core though. I'm not surprised that the wing would be added into the remake. Especially since, in the timeline, it comes after Crisis Core. It also fits with the "one winged angel" theme

I found this interesting thread in Twitter thanks to The Night Sky Prince liking it, it seems the information comes from the Ultimania (I apologize if this has been already addressed by someone else, I haven't read all the posts yet!) and I thought it would be good to share it with you guys so you can give your opinions about it:

What do you think?

The idea that there are "4" Sephiroths seems scary. But in reality out of the whole 4, there is clearly only one we are intrigued about it.

The rest are flashbacks, hallucinations, copies and whatever. We all knew that before.
There's two active conciousnesses, Sephiroth at the Northern Crater is acting through the clones (including Cloud) and the Jenova body as always. Also there's a Sephiroth fighting fate now.

There are many things being said and theorized, and the ending for this first part was indeed a real mindfuck, so all we can do is wait and see what is what Nomura and Kitase have stored for the story. But I have to say this theory is, at least, interesting. Perhaps in the end will be a mix of all what's being said, who knows?

This third Sephiroth is the one that intrigues me the most. Something different is going to happen, we just don't know what... that's why all we can do is wait and see what is what they are going to do.
