I haven't got time to post this porperly on TLS, but there's a site with trailer images from the Dissidia trailer showing the characters battling from FF 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, & 10.

Yup. That's right - apparently they're STILL avoiding showing FF7 things in major updates whenever possible.

There's the group images again for some reason

A trailer of JUST Cloud vs. Sephiroth (requires login info I haven't got. It's probably on Youtube or Gametrailers.com by now though)
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5381459
EDIT: It's on youtube now, not yet on Gametrailers.
You get to see both Supernova & Omnislash.
Cloud's victory post also now sheathes his sword like it's shown in Crisis Core, not in FFVII, with the blade facing down instead of up.

That video is from the Dissidia Website.

It was uploaded today, together with Cloud's and Sephiroth's profiles.

And there's still one more video marked as "?????" next to it.

I already posted in TLS about the Site update, but i didn't posted anything about those images.

I was thinking editing my post to include that, but since it's more general, i think it is better to make a separated news post for it.

What's that sword that Cloud is using in the fight? Anybody recognize it?
It's Ultima Weapon, Cloud's ultimate weapon in FFVII.

It also says at the top of the screen "Ultima Weapon Equipped!" when using EX-Mode :monster:

(For the sake of it, Sephiroth's EX-Mode thing is "Reunion!")

cba making a whole new topic:

http://vjumpbooks.com/bc0812-dissidia.html

"Dissidia Final Fantasy - Destiny Hero's Guide"

It looks like one of the early 'starter guides' cover the first parts of the game that usually get released with games in Japan (this one covers .

What's of importance here is that it apparently covers the fighting styles for all playable characters. The site originally said "all 22 characters", but that's been deleted now for some mysterious reason :monster: Assuming 22 characters wasn't an error, then with the main characters and Shantotto, that leaves one character.

Which is a little disappointing, because I was hoping for a couple of FFXII characters and then some FFTactics series ones too :monster:

That's a really awesome cover. I'd love to get that image without all the names and text so I could use it as a wallpaper :monster:

Great art. Need bigger! I haven't decided if I'll get this game, though. I'm not much into fighting games. I like plot and stuff. Though it looks pretty impressive from what I've seen.

I agree, I wouldn't mind seeing more art. I would buy the art book if it comes out, like with FFIX. I never got the FFVII one. I'd kill for it.

No doubt a proper quality version of the artwork will be released sooner or later, :monster:.

I'm using this thread as a general DDFF news posting thread :monster:

http://www.square-enix.co.jp/dissidia/

Official site as updated with a 'System' video on the Story Mode, and custom PSP themes (FF1, 2, 3).

Story Mode video translation I spent way too long on :monster:

[Note: Stage Bonus - Rosetta Stone, gil; skill: Maser Eye, Cure]

The player controls the Player Piece to advance through the Story Mode.

On each stage is a piece in the Target Area, enclosed in a red border. This is the key to completing the stage.

The points at the top left of the screen are Destiny Points (DP). If any DP remains when you complete a stage you can collect the Stage Bonus, so take note of the slots.

Once you leave the Home Area, DP is depleted one point at a time.

[Note: 'False Hero', lv. 1, Battle Map: Temenos of Harmony*)

[Note: 'Mutability's Fiend', lv. 2]

These pieces are called Battle Pieces, enemies who block your path. When you contact with a Battle Piece, you will enter combat.

[Note: Fight this Battle Piece? Yes / No]

By inflicting HP damage on the enemy, you can gain EXP. When you gain enough EXP, your character will gain a level on the spot.

Raising your level will not only increase your stats, but you will also learn new abilities.

When adjacent to two or more Battle Pieces, when you contact with one of the pieces...

... it will start a chain battle with all adjoining Battle Pieces. This gives you the advantage of being able to make contact with multiple pieces without moving...

... so you can fight while preserving DP, however when in a chain battle you can't perform other actions such as Customization, so caution is needed.

Sometimes you may also find treasure chests on a stage. Inside will be something to help you advance through the game.

[Note: Take treasure chest? -- Obtained Accessory "Power Ring" from the treasure chest!]

Items can be equipped from the Customise menu, and can increase the character's stats.

On the stage there may be areas which have been locked to prevent the player piece from proceeding further.

Lock Areas, which have a red mark on them, can be unlocked by defeating a specific Battle Piece.

[Note: Righteous Imitator**, lv. 2, DP Change: Critical within 10 seconds -- reward: DP +1, Battle Map: Bygone Chaos Temple]

You can increase your DP by fulfilling the DP Chance conditions shown on certain Battle Pieces.

It is key to see how much DP you can conserve as you clear the stage. If there is a DP Chance, be sure to go and make contact!

[Note: ??? -- Identity unknown until you make contact]

When a Chaos Piece is in the Target Area, it will trigger a boss battle. If you win this battle, you will complete the stage.

When you complete a stage, your actions up until that point will be converted into points, and when you complete every stage you can exchange them for rewards.

If you have any DP remain when you clear a stage you can receive the Stage Bonus, so try to complete each stage while paying attention to the moving slot, which is tied to your DP.

[Note: Stage Bonus: Moogle [summon], gil]

The stages change depending on the Character, and each stage has different characteristics.

How you clear each stage can be decided by the player themselves. It is important to come up with a strategy to clear the stages effectively.

[Note: Obtained Accessory "Purple Drop" from the treasure chest!]

[Note: Potion: Restores HP and EX Gauge to 100%]

* 'Holy/sacred area of order/cosmos', a location from a past game I don't know? :monster:

** 'Imitation Righteous Person [or Loyal Retainer]'.
Is this game going to be something like you pick one good guy to play as and then play through story mode as them? Or will your "character" be a certain level, and you can choose any of the good guys to play as? (that was awkward to ask, I guess this stems from me not really playing many fighters except at the arcade).

I think it records your level, so you could level Squall up to 10, then start playing as Onion Knight. Squall will stay at 10, and if you select him again you'll be started from where you left off?

Everyone probably starts at level 1, and it's up to the player to level them up.

I don't really know much about it though :monster:

God this game looks amazing.

I'm amused at what the random enemies look like though. They remind me of the Fighting Wire Frames from Super Smash Bros. Melee.

This looks like it could be really fun, with a shitload of re playability. That's wonderful.
