Does anyone know if there's a way I can play the Dragon Quest games online or download them to my Macbook?

All of the nes/SNES versions can probably be emulated but PM if you want help with that. A few of them have been remade/remastered for the DS, and IIRC some were released on Ipad/Android.

Have you only got a macbook? Not Pc? Just in terms of emulation I don't know if it's different on a Mac or what.

Is there a particular one you want to play first?

If the 2.5D style continues to be well received (seems old school JRPG fans love it), I wonder if FF1-2 and FF5-6 will get those remakes along with DQ1-2? It looks like it ages better visually than the chibi 3D remakes FF3 and FF4 got.

Thanks, Theozilla. I do love these games. Despite their less "serious" style, I find them to be more challenging in terms of gameplay than the Final Fantasies.
Dragon Quest VIII is my favourite so far.

It's what I was immediately thinking. FFVI "HD 2D" remake in the style of Octopath? Sign me up.
