christ, yeah GI, you need to actually do more than poast pictures, so let's add some story like A is for Atronarch and D is for Daedric Ruins in the background. What's next, they tell that you and your friends go on epic quests to defeat the evil dragons and get the magic sword after stealing his sweetroll? Actually nvm, stealing the sweetroll would make the quest interesting.

The graphics and atmosphere remind me of Runescape.

ZeniMax chooses to save the man's wife, who then tells you that the Werewolf leader is weak to fire. This information is helpful when you fight him, but you don't actually need to do this quest before fighting the werewolf leader if you don't want to. Basically, you can skip parts of quest chains if you want, but you get some benefit for playing the whole thing. Also, whenever you go back to the town you just saved, everything there hails you as a hero.
-The game features three faction PvP where you fight to take over keeps and use trebuchets and other siege weapons to help do it. At the high end, you can have 100 v 100 battles. There are also farms and mines you can try to take over. Mots of this happens in Cyrodiil where your goal is to take over and hold the Imperial City to get faction wide bonuses for it. If you have played Dark Age of Camelot, this probably sounds familiar. For those who haven't, essentially the entire zone is a giant PvP area will all sorts of points of interest.

addendum: Third-person perspective isn't necessarily a bad thing; I always appreciated the way you could switch between first and third to cater for tastes. The hotbar, however, is standard MMO nonsense.

Oblivion and Morrowind did however, and Skyrim isn't so far removed.

This isn't an Elder Scrolls game, it's that simple.

That'd be a technological nightmare. They seriously couldn't have stretched that engine over to a MMO capacity. They probably couldn't do it for just a small MP game. Too much precision in the combat for one thing, and many other things too.

Tera did precision combat just fine.

All bethesda needs is to either significantly upgrade the engine or create an entirely new one.

Obviously due to the whole mmo nature it couldn't be exactly as ES games are, but they could have at least kept the combat similar and the first person perspective.

Im not saying they create realms with 1000000000 players in each dungeon, I just mean they could have limited the userbase of each section and had the elder scrolls style of gaming without a load of shit :P

No they definitely won't. Still, it's not too late for them to find something truly innovative to put into it. The odds aren't in favour of that though.

The majority of graphics and engine crap is entirely client-side in your regular cookie-cutter MMO anyway, though

The only thing that is sent across the interwebs are a shit-ton of numbers and figures like coordinates and trajectories of objects
I mean, granted yes the precision combat would have been a nightmare to some degree but the combat isn't really as precise as you think it would be. :monster: (eg. no limb damage modifiers, preset arrow physics not determined by engine, etc.)

TES in an online format would actually work; they just have to do something about how they store information like objects in boxes and strewn throughout the world, mainly. The game would become a bit less large-scale, obviously, but 64 players - or more - in a single arena / area would actually be possible, see Battlefield. Yes, they would have to switch from a 'traditional' MMO technological point of view to an FPS one, but still. Fuck, they did 128 player FPS games a decade ago, iirc.

All of the above. The new screens look a little better than the first ones, but still not very impressive. The trailer is underwhelming; those for the 'original' TES games were all epics and stuff; this is mainly something that tries to look ominous or something, I dunno. They're making it very obvious that an entirely different studio and team is working on this game.

Also, the characters in the screenshots all look like short, kiddy peoples. Koddig is the word I'd use, but it's Dutch. Translates to droll, though.
