Yeah honestly using tags here defeats the purpose of a spoiler thread which is to discuss spoilers freely but Joe made this and said to use them, so *shrugs*

Because some people want to discuss the story as they go through it without being exposed to it all at once

That's what I used the other thread for and then after finishing I came here thinking I can finally be rid of spoiler tags, but...

I prefer spoiler tags in spoiler threads beacause I just open all of the threads with new poasts at once thanks to some power javascript magicks that fuck up my browser and the server

The use of spoiler tags was - as X said - for people wanting to discuss stuff as they played through, e.g. someone wants to talk about the awesomeness of a boss fight and its meaning or the story behind it. It'd be shitty for them to come talk about that in depth then instantly see a spoiler from Chapter 13.

It tends to be standard protocol on the nets as X also mentioned. I still see spoiler tagged Mass Effect 2 posts online.

I'll confess that I find it a terribly annoying practice in threads marked as having spoilers, but it's such a simple thing to do that there's little reason not to when it's clearly what the majority of people present want or expect.

But I thought that's what the other thread is for. That's how I have used it before finishing the game and I wasn't the only one.

Standard practice I thought was to have one thread for general discussions and spoiler tagged story discussions, and another where spoilers can be talked about freely.

I just typed a long-ass post on my thoughts on this game since I finished it today, and it got deleted. Wow.

Anyhoo, to those familiar with me, hai, I not dead, just hibernating

I’m not about to type all that stuff again so let me just say that I share most of the sentiments you guys have on this game and the way it handled its storytelling (or lack of). Overall I did enjoy it, and surprisingly I did grow to like Noctis and friends (Papa Ignis best husbando) despite being underwhelmed when this was first announced. Was it memorable? Can’t say so. I like mere parts of it than as a whole but I’m not mad at it.

There are glaring holes in the plot, and the fleshing out of the characters (dear game, please stop trying so hard to make me care about Luna and her boring ass/ Ravus who? / Iedolas who?) and towards the end it just felt rushed and severely depressing. But I enjoyed it a lot.
