This is probably going to sound stupid, but what are five songs that define your life, or you as a person - who you are, who you were, whatever?

For me, it would be these five songs most of all. Be it the melody, the lyrics, or both, these all just...I dunno, move me, I guess? They feel very right, and idfk. It probably seems silly, but they've all been big parts of my life at some point or another.

Anyway, what about you?

Awesome thread idea.

Here I go.

This song made me feel good about myself as a kid. Sometimes when I feel sad I listen to it and it reminds me I can be as brooke as I want to and it's okay. <3

Always makes me think of my tls boys especially kimble and I being wingmen.

I could get deep on this one but the music and how it feels and where it takes me... I really just like this song.

This is like how I feel about so many of my friends who I just want to be happy. Don't see myself singing all the words but stuff like 'Don't change the way you are, you'll live within my heart' just seems right.

It's short, but that entire show was my life in university and kind of still now.

(wasn't able to find a studio version of this that had it all in one video, but it's probably more intriguing to watch it live anyway)

I hope all these videos work. And honestly, limiting myself to five choices meant I missed out on a number of other songs that I consider pretty much as important as these five. However I'm too lazy to list more for now. Maybe I'll do another poast.

Songs that define me, not necessarily my favourite songs? hmm....

The songs I write probably 'define' me the best, but I'd like to avoid complete vanity so I won't include any.

This song really instills the feeling of running, metaphorically and literally. I don't drive, but I'm a passenger a lot, and the thrill of just going is something I lust after constantly.

Also, the music video is awesome.

This has been my favourite band since 2004, when this album (The Sunset Tree) came out. It was hard to pick a track off of this album that particularly defined me, but the almost cruel implementation of the traditional phrase among literary references and sentiments of self-loathing make it a good candidate

I was named after this song. Also, it's boppy as hell.

For obvious reasons. I heard that this song is supposed to be sarcastic, but even if you take it at face value (as I do) it's still a wonderful, cheesy folk song.

I actually like the song best when it's just a guy and a guitar, the orchestration on the album gets particularly gruesome towards the end...

This is kind of cheating, because the only recorded version of this song has me singing in the background. But I didn't write it at all, my best friend did. It's a song that pretty perfectly sums up growing up in the 'burbs. You can hear it on MySpace. http://www.myspace.com/fwbcollective
