Here's a thought.

We all know that Sephiroth loses it in the Mt. Nibel Mako Reactor. But why? Well, let's review.
Sephiroth and Zack are talking about the monsters produced there. Sephiroth says the following:

"You average SOLDIER members are mako infused humans... but you're still human."

To which Zack says:

"Wait, you said 'average member'. What about you?"

(excuse me if my quoting is incorrect, I'm going off of memory, and have never actually played the game)
Cue Sephiroth starting to lose it.
Are we left to believe that if Zack had kept his mouth shut right at that moment, Sephiroth wouldn't have gone insane? Nibelheim would be standing and Zack and Aerith would remain alive? Jenova would remain in the Reactor? No Meteorfall, ShinRa still prospers... the list goes on! And that could have ALL BEEN AVOIDED if Zack hadn't said that one simple line?
If you look at Sephiroth's reaction to his statement, he looks as if he hadn't even considered it before Zack brings it up. He GASPS in realization.
What do you guys think? ._.; Could one actually say that its all Zack's fault, in a rather roundabout way?

Interesting, but I'm not so sure... I don't know how much of the script you've read so I'll spoiler-tag this:
Genesis would've turned up and said his piece anyway. Sephiroth would've had to face the fact that he wasn't really human then.

Naw, Sephiroth still would've flipped. He was already having his doubts. Zack just put the nail in the coffin. The fact he said

Sephiroth: …I've always felt since I was small… That I was different from the
others. Special, in some way. But…not like this…

Kinda points to the fact he was having his doubts. He'd have put two and two together.

And yeah, Genesis or the fact Jenova was in such close proximity to him, would've pushed him over.

Yeah, I suppose so. Damn, I wish he hadn't gone insane. He was so nice beforehand. Its really tragic...

On the subject of Genisis, now that you've mentioned it, assuming there will be a remake of FFVII, are they going to put Genisis in there? I guess they wouldn't have to, due to Cloud's memories being messed up, but still, Genisis plays a large role in Sephiroth's insanity within Crisis Core.

LOL he wasn't that nice, but he was a pretty cool SOLDIER. The fact he wasn't that nice of a guy, but still had a soft side, is what made his portrayal in Crisis Core so much more enjoyable. I'm glad they didn't make him a complete dick, but also not a total "nice guy."

And in regards to Genesis, I doubt they'd include him in a Nibelhiem flashback, seeing as how Cloud never saw him, and the Nibelheim flashback in FFVII is all Cloud's perspective. It'd make no sense for him to be there. I'd rather them stay true to their story and not just throw *every* compliation element in there.

Okay, compared to how he is now, one could say he was nice. XD He wasn't a bitch like Genisis, though. But Angeal seemed to be the... friendliest of the 1st Classes.

I agree. If there is a remake, I would rather they stay true to FFVII itself. I'm going to be very upset if they change things... me and the rest of the FFVII fans, more than likely.
For instance, if they try to change the fighting from good old turned based to some real time crap... I would be pissed. I grew up with turn based. And FFVII without turn based fighting is just sinful.

Well as nostalgic as FFVII's battle system is, it's completely outdated. The point of a remake is to re-do things with the current generation in mind. I doubt they'd leave the battle system untouched. It'd be lazy. If they could have a fusion of the turn based system with action, ala FFXIII or FFXII, that'd probably be the best. But it playing the same exact way as 10 years ago would pretty much kill any gameplay enjoyment gamers would have, new or old.

They used turn based in X, and that was still fun.

XII... well, it was weird, but I liked it. I would be strange to have that style in FFVII.

I still don't understand how XIII's works. It LOOKS turn based, but people are saying it isn't. I haven't done that much research into it yet....

Not all real time is crap. :D

It's not likely that they'll put in time and money and remake exactly the same game with prettier graphics. For one, there are a lot of things that will be harder to get away with once things are clearer on screen. And there have been many great real time and pseudo real time battle systems in RPGs that work pretty well.

If they do remake the game, and you don't like it, you can always scrunch your eyes up tight and pretend it never happened. :D

I'm sure I'll like it. I'm TRYING to be open minded about it, but I don't want them to completely screw it up. Its hard not to have personal wants and high expectations, but if they ever do it, I'm sure it'll be great.
