Heres how I would run Square Enix.

1. Make more Sleeping Dogs sequels
2. Make more new IPs
3. Introduce a Squaresports brand (compare EA Sports)
4. Cancel All Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts projects, they are cancer and must be eradicated.

Make more Final Fantasies and Kingdom Hearts and actually release them on time (XV I AM LOOKING AT YOU) -- but at the same time making sure that they're, you know, not like half rushed and unfinished for release. (Which is my biggest fear about XV right now, excluding sequels)
Also make it so that no one country is shafted of extra content for years, like the Final Mixes used to be -- if Japan gets extra bosses/dlc/plot/goodies and the like, so does the rest of the world.

And have Umatbru forever legally banned from playing any SE related games for the lulz.

Also adding on to if I ran Square, I would really seriously invest in that Dragon Quest/Tales/FF crossover. Or maybe try and do cross overs with other RPGs.

I'm told that dragon quest is quite kiddy. If I ran SE, I would make it even kiddier. There would be Saturday morning cartoons, toy-lines and advertisements during Saturday morning cartoon blocks.

Sure, like what they're doing already with Triad Wars I suppose
Square Enix have definitely been a good publishing brand. To their credit, they aren't resting on their laurels with Eidos, CD and UFG under their wing. Not to mention their stand-in publishing act for games under the Activision and Ubisoft portfolios in Japan. And Enix's manga publishing.
It's easy to forget that Square Enix already does plenty more than just games development.

lol if you're referring to a 'sports' brand specifically, EA Sports (and other behemoth franchises like the 2K series) have that corner of the market on lockdown. The only serious contender I can think of from Japan is Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer brand, and that's only because it fills a niche for Asian consumers of football with a franchise that established itself 18 years ago.

An attempt by Square Enix just wouldn't be competitive.
