Idea for The LifeStream.net!!

Hello!

So i really like this site, and forum!! a website and community based on FFVII!! I feel right at home!

so with that...

I would like to know how i could potentially become an affiliate! and link to this forum! = )

and would like to know what you all think of creating a new board on here dedicated to a FFVII Fan-Games! =)

as i have posted and shared in a previous post, i am currently hosting a dedicated server for an FFVII Multiplayer 3rd Person Action Fan-Game called "Midgar v3.0"

I would love to try an build a gaming community for this mod and other Fan-Games out there with the help of thelifestream [.] net community!

Do you have any additional information that you can share with us?
How active the game server/sites is, etc?

Overall, it's just the sort of thing that I'd like to see in the Fan Community. If you want, we can make some announcements about it, since I'm sure it's something that a large number of FF fans would be interested in, once I know a little bit more about it.

Well the Site is brand spanking new! lol... Literally like days old!

I was inspired to put it together after lots of digging for cool FFVII Fan-Games, and Mods!

I currently hosting the Dedicated Server for the Midgar v3.0 Mod at artofwarcentral.com

only 10 slots available at the moment... since im paying for the server out of my own pocket...

i'm willing to upgrade as soon as i know there is a demand... and people would actually like to play this online with others.

I provide my own custom package of the mod and support for it if anyone has any questions... i can't edit any of the source code, or make any real changes to mod or anything as i did not create it... but I can add additional playable characters if the models are available. (as you mentioned Zack, i will look for that one and let you know)

bascially The Server, and website is brand new! I would prefer to have a dedicated board on here for the Mod rather starting new threads on my website.... this way we can co-promote each other...

you get new members to the forum and visitors to your site, and i get new players for the fan-games im promoting on my site...

That sounds fine by me.

What I can do it set up a Sub-forum under the Fan Creations specifically for the mod, where you can direct people interested in discussing the Mod, and possibly expanding it. That way you don't have to set up boards on your site, and we can establish a close affiliation between the communities, especially since yours is so new, we'll both benefit from the cross-traffic.

I'll chat with Yop (our other primary Admin) and see if there are any other ideas he can come up with. We're currently looking at re-vamping our frontpage a bit, and depending on the interconnection, this might be something interesting to consider.

Also, doesn't Square hammer down on such games / mods as much as they used to? That Avalance fan game (looks pretty good, btw), looks exactly like the kinda thing people would get sued over.

Well, first and foremost thank you! = )

Regarding the issue with being Sued... these Mods / Games have been out for sometime now... so if there was any issues with these games, mods, im sure Square would have shut them down by now...

according the Creator of AVALANCHE, SQUARE would only have a problem with the mod / fan-game if the Creator was Ripping the Content Directly from Final Fantasy VII Playstation Game.... meaning using the exact same Models, and Source Code Used to Create FFVII.

In the case of these Mods / Fan-Games im promoting on my site, they were built from scratch! not using any of Squares direct Copyrighted Work

and no one is actually selling or making a profit from these mods / games, so i doubt there would be any problems...

Hmmm.... i don't think so.. that's why i created the site FFVII: Online.Net, to help promote the Fan-Games and try to build the community! begining with Midgar v3.0 (Mod) since it fully support Online - Multiplayer Gameplay!

Well, hopefully we'll be able to change that.

The subforum is setup under the fan creations, so if you want to add a news post / feature to your site that has users Register here, and directs them to that Sub-forum for any question / comments / whatnot about the mod. There will be an affiliation link showing up on the main site when the Cache refreshes.

As for the creator, I posted up on the site that you have linked from yours, since he appears to have migrated from his original site back in 2006 (and ditched the "-" in the URL). Hopefully I'll get a response from him.

Well technically, they can still claim ownership over the used characters and their designs - those are (probably) trademarks or copyrighted by Square too.

Also, please don't abuse capitals where not needed, English isn't German .

Actually, there would be, if there's copyright or trademark infringement involved. Using 'final fantasy' in a game or website title could - technically speaking - be grounds for a lawsuit, considering it's a registered trademark and all.

Of course, Square knows it owes a lot of support and fans from FF fansites and such, .
