Genesis is a scholarly individual who is misunderstood by the fanbase, a fanbase who crave only action and fighting. Genesis came from a humble farm and grew up wanting only to spend time with his dear friends, Angeal and Sephiroth. Jealous, perhaps, but he still cared for them as his true comrades. Then he asked Sephiroth for help, when he was suffering badly, and Sephiroth told him to go and rot. This was understandably traumatic for Genesis. By the end of the game Genesis has become a true hero, blessed by Minerva herself as the protector of the planet, and legend says he will awaken to save the world from a future crisis...and that future crisis has arrived in remake.

Cool, but all his portrayal is soulless. A nice cliche background can't save a badly characterized char with 0 personality appeal (not sure if your post was sarcasm, but the point remains lol).

I’d be all for Rebirth trying to make Genesis an interesting character.

People actually forgetting Genesis is deadass hauled off to Deepground by Nero and Weiss for his bullshit in a specific, hyperfocused scene near the ending of the game, and thinking he's magically just not anymore are the strangest.

That is far more impressive and respectable than anything the chap in your avatar has done.
People hate for appearing in the nibelheim incident, but he left his banora white juice cans for others to enjoy at the mansion! He carries those and multiple dumbapples with him to give. Sephiroth had the nerve to reject it...

It's Genesis. You can tell because of his hair color and red outfit. The popped collar, pointed side, and hairstyle all match the art.

That's Genesis's Deepground outfit.
His original outfit changes upon being confined to Deepground, which is actually his first design. The Crisis Core Genesis design is a simplified version of the DC one.
