Is anyone interested in doing anymore Community Playthroughs?

I've noticed that for a FFVII RPG board, a lot of you haven't really played any of the solid gold RPG greats, namely those that were on the SNES and the PS1. There isn't much I can do about some titles, but, many RPG Classics are now available on the PSN and thus available for everyone to enjoy, and well, barring that, emulation is always still a thing.

I was just wondering if I were to do another Community Playthroughs on some PSN games, say, Xenogears or something, how many people would be willing to purchase or emulate the game and jump in?

You say Xenogears, I'm in.

Although I've only beat it once and that was last year... so I'm not sure I'd be able to keep up with everyone else, seeing as I had trouble before. And I spent too much time grinding, but could be fun!

I would probably be a lot more likely to play SNES games because those are way easier to emulate. I suggest Dragon Quest V. Although lots of people would probably prefer to play the remake of that.

I think I have most NES/SNES games on my Wii already. Don't ask me how; some wizard on Craigslist did it for me. :monster:

I'd prefer not to have digital copies of games, but meh...there must have been some sort of swap meet-scouring a few years ago because the amount of classic games hidden in junk-boxes has reduced greatly. That and, the people who have classic games seem to know what they've got now, so they're sold for stupendipulous prices.

Fortunately, I've got a Xenogears ISO already. ^.^

I played Xenogears up to a certain point where I got fucked by a boss without a means to go back and level up...unfortunately I had only kept one save file.

I stopped playing there. :monster:

Xenoblade Chronicles is also in my backlog. 80+hrs and still not finished. :P

I beat the remake of that...and enjoyed it. Fun little game! Wouldn't mind trying it again.

Not that the story of Xenogears wasn't good, but I'm not going though the wall of text Disk 2 is again.

That said, anything easy to emulate is fair game, especially PS1 titles as I already know how emulating that works.

As I recall for our last community playthrough Chrono Trigger came in second and a lot of were open to do that one after FFIX.

I'm down for Xenogears (or whatever else), don't get me wrong. But I saw Aaron say that SNES would be easiest for him, so I thought "hey why not make a suggestion", which, in this case, scratches an itch I've had for a long time.

It's probably my record for "RPG I've finished the most times."

As such, I'm going to sit this one out, I think. Shit I never even finished VIII during that playthrough. Just got to the portion where it's a good time to level whore.

Chrono Trigger is good. Especially as there's the SNES, PSX (DO NOT PLAY) and DS versions to choose from.

I'm glad you brought up the PS version, Ryu. The fact that I have only ever played it on the PS yet still did so a bajillion times despite the horrendous loading times is a testament to just how good that game is.

Chrono Trigger is incredible but I don't know if I could motivate myself to play through it again. I'm just not in the mood for JRPGs lately. I know I suggested Dragon Quest V but I've only played that once so it's not something I remember as well. If I were going to play something Chrono Trigger-related it would probably be that fan sequel. Crimson Echoes, I think it was.

I'm honestly surprised so many of you haven't played/finished Chrono Trigger. I thought that was, like, the most widely played JRPG after FFVII.

I'd also be up for Dragon Quest VI, which I've never actually finished. It's been long enough since I played it that I'd probably be happy starting over.

On a not quite JRPG note, another game I have unsuccessfully tried to get into a couple times is Vagrant Story. That could be fun.

Maybe even a Vagrant Story-Parasite Eve double feature! Given their relative brevity and very similar combat mechanics.

Parasite Eve seemed nice. I never got very far in it though.

Never played Vagrant Story.

I'd be down for Xenogears or Bagrant Story. Eh, I'm okay with another bout of Chrono Trigger too.
