Is Marche a huge dick?

Blade

That Man
AKA
Darkside-Ky/Mimeblade
Put it this way, if Marche didn't make the choice to become a powerful Clan Leader on his own, he would have most likely floundered under the rule of the judges and the dominating will of the Esper who was ruling that world using Ritz as a tool. That's not a choice, that's a desire to survive in tough circumstances. Kill or be Killed. Rule or be Ruled.

You ever see the film "Army of Darkness" or "Evil Dead"? Your average store clerk Ash Williams has to fight demons, zombies, and whatever else all to survive in a chaotic world he didn't have any intentions of staying in. He had no choice, he just did what he could to survive in a world that didn't want him to exist.

Even if the people around him were innocent of the affairs that brought him where he ended up, if he had any chance to survive, he had to get strong... he had to build a chainsaw for a hand and grab a fist full of boomstick.

Marche isn't the kind of person to lie to his friends, and he wouldn't do what he did if he didn't care about how his friends and family were treated. I doubt someone like Montblanc would have worked with him if he wasn't an honest person anyway.

And further, even if his family were hit by hard times in the past, that doesn't mean things have to stay that way. If anything, this experience proves Marche can help support his family IN THE REAL WORLD better than he had previously. Being a kind and responsible older brother, being an important friend, thinking about the needs of others (what they really NEED as opposed to the facetious things they DESIRE).

He might even be able to find out why Ivalice existed in a Grimoire in the first place? Was it truly destroyed when they closed the book?

I mean, this is stuff you can't ignore.
