Welcome to the fanclub for the one and only survivor of Mist, Rydia! Perhaps one of the most popular FF4 characters, Rydia set down a lot of trends in the one game she appeared. The first Summoner, the first survivor of a tribe of mages, the first woman with green hair, the first character with pointless billow-y sleeves. And she made those things cool *before* Garnet, Aerith, Terra and Yuna came along.

But not everyone has copied Rydia. Excluding sequels, she's pretty much the only character to visibly age during the course of a game. And admit it, aren't we all thankful she did? Plus, she remains the only Summoner in the series to practice Black Magic alongside her Summoning. Sorry Garnet, Eiko, Yuna, but White Magic is for wimps, am I right?

And CoD technically beat her to the green hair one. Technically.

But not everyone has copied Rydia. Excluding sequels, she's pretty much the only character to visibly age during the course of a game

"Excluding flashbacks" I think you mean. And she's the only character for whom 17 years passes during the course of a game. Next closest is Zack, whose model visibly changes to show the passage of four years.
Arguably Genesis, but that's different.
Also, excluding side games, elsewise Chocobo's mysterious dungeon has another rapid ager.

I like to picture her with Kain... because it's fragging Kain for goodness sakes! And he deserves someone beautiful and talented. I like Edge though, I never considered him a numbskull... just a little... I don't know, I can't really describe it.
