I had a question about getting the crew's limit breaks. Some websites say it's 80 kills/8 uses per limit level (aside from Vincent) while other sites say it varies from character to character. What are the real numbers for getting them? Anybody know?

Here you go.

Not only does it vary character to character, it also varies by limit level. I.e. Vincent needs 40 kills to unlock limit level 2 then 56 to unlock limit level 3.

Special Note:             | There has been a bit of confusion on the hit, miss,
                          | and yeah options on Tifa's reels. You MUST score a
                          | hit or yeah in order for it to count toward her
                          | usage total. A miss will not count. Example: lets
                          | say you've done a lot of killing with her but you
                          | haven't been using her limits. So you've only 
                          | learned her 1/1, 2/1, and 3/1 limits. In battle you
                          | use her break and you score a hit on 1/1, a miss on 
                          | 2/1, and a yeah on 3/1. If you are working on her 
                          | 1/2 limit then the hit for 1/1 will count, but if 
                          | you are working on her 2/2 limit the miss you got 
                          | on her 2/1 will not count toward her usage tally.
                          | Also of note, you MUST have her limit set to the
                          | level you are trying to learn the */2 limit for.
                          | Using the same example above, you can't just set 
                          | your limit level to level 3 and expect to gain all
                          | her */2 limits by using them all at once. You'll 
                          | only gain her 3/2 limit. To learn her 1/2 or 2/2
                          | you'll have to set her back to level 1 or 2
                          | respectively and use those */1 limits while set to
                          | the correct level.

I chuckled slightly when I looked at Aerith's limit breaks because I never ever got to the end of them, or was that just me?

Never got to the end of any character's limits. Climhazzard, Satellite Beam, an Howling Moon were the furthest I ever got.

I don't think Aeris has ever reached her level 2 limit breaks in any of my playthroughs.

I suppose I should get her all the way to level 4 someday just for the sake of being able to say I've done it, but... nah.

I do it every time. I must be the only one XD. I kit her out with enemy skill and have her kill every group with matra magic as soon as possible. The end result of that is that she's the only character whose limits actually progress until around Wutai, which is where she gets Great Gospel XD.

I do it too, Lex. Thanks for the info, btw. I have her in my group at all times as much as possible in Disc 1 while she's still there, and I have her do most of the kills until she gets her 3/1 limit. By the time I get to the Temple of the Ancients, she usually has all of her limits including Great Gospel. Nothing like laughing at Red Dragon and Demon Wall while she keeps my team in top shape and temporarily invincible without even breaking a sweat. Too bad you lose her after Disc 1.

I did complete Aeris' once, I remember it being time consuming but that was when I was young and a day seemed endless, so it really might not be that long. Albeit I'm not sure I'd still do that today what with youtube and everything.
I just wanted to see what it looked like.

Aeris frequently gets to her her level 2 for me, but there's no point to switching to it. Breath of the Earth is useless. Using it 6 times gets you Fury Brand wish is excellent, but when I get Breath of the Earth, it's usually the Temple of the Ancients, and what's the point.

My current modded PC playthrough (that I haven't touched in awhile), it was stupid of me not to select the Aerith Lives mod, then I would have had the opportunity to get Great Gospel.
