Well, that was still not the reason for "running off her own".

Uh, yes it was. There was nothing stopping the team from escorting her to the Forgotten City except that it would be utterly retarded of her to wait around until Cloud turned her into sushi while she was sleeping.

Are people seriously judging Aerith for running away from someone who tried to kill her?

And even if she brought the rest of the gang with her, it would haven't stopped Sephiroth from trying to kill her.

hmm, well, still no. The Rest of the Team could escort her, while Cloud stayed (maybe with Tifa) behind.
And... you assume Cloud would hurt her again and again until ...? There were at least half a dozen people around to make sure that doesn`t happen again!
There was a higher chance of protecting her with comrades around, then her going alone. Her act was noble but not really smart! Sephiroth had no influence to the others, they could have protect her, at least tried.

I think Aerith would have felt very guilty at the notion that she was putting people she cared deeply about in danger.

That`s the reason why I said "noble". But from a rational point of view, this is a very strong team.
Strong enough to beat Sephiroth in his ultimate form!
Therefore it would be "smarter" to take them with her. Because there was a very high chance, that everything could have worked out well.

How is there a higher chance that everything could have worked out well? We have to consider the fact that Cloud was practically batshit crazy at the time and trying to kill Aerith; that's about three people already (considering how Cloud would have probably needed two people or so to stop him), and there's the rest trying to stop Sephiroth. Either way, it was highly likely that someone would have died in the hands of Sephiroth, even if it wasn't Aerith, and from that, she would have probably suffered the same guilt that Cloud suffered when Aerith died. No one wins, in either situation - I don't see how it's bad that Aerith went off alone to protect her friends from risk. It's something similar to what a mother would do for her kids, that's how much she cared about them.

Who said it`s a "bad" thing what she did? Please don`t misunderstand me. Hell, even I would act that way probably!

About the higher chance:

1. Cloud staying behind with someone + send him "sleep" to make sure he stayes behind.

2. 6 or 7 strong people with her.

3. Remember how they beat Sephiroth/Jenova right after her death?

4. They can and did that again and again until the final battle!

Again, the chances of someone other than Aerith dying or getting hurt is much more likely. In fact, there may have even been more casualties if she hadn't gone off alone. And in all honesty, I'm not sure they would have done Sephiroth much harm without Cloud's help.

Aerith going off on her own is fucking stupid. Period.

Regardles of circumstance...which brings me to: Oh, cut the bullshit with her running from Cloud. She VISITS him in his fucking dreams to TELL him where she is GOING. She tells him not to worry about his little episode and that she will COME BACK when it's all over.

Yeah, really fucking terrified.

If anything she was trying to protect Cloud from another breakdown. Not flee from him, FFS.

Also, she did NOT try and protect everyone from Sephiroth. She did NOT KNOW he was there. She went because she felt like she was being led there. She says this.

Noble intentions aside, her actions ultimately led to her death and these actions are, in fact, dumb.

I'm curious - since you state she didn't know Sephiroth was there, why is Aerith going off on her own dumb? Obviously she made it to the Forgotten City on her own just fine, and if Sephiroth indeed hadn't been there then she presumably could have called Holy and been fine. I think she went off on her own because A - it was a long journey, considering they were near the Temple/Gongaga when she left, and B - the rest of the group was likely worried about Cloud.

BTW, random whoring - my first FF fanfic ever was Aerith having an encounter with Sephiroth on her way to the FC. :monster:

Fact is we know, no one besides Aerith died till the end. And they still had to fight right after her death. Plus what I said above.
And Come on, give the others some credit. :P
I`m not sure if they could win the final battle though. I think that`s up to debate. But it would be still be a more rational act to go with the other.
Her selfless and noble act is also the main reason for the guilt especially Cloud felt for not being able to protect her. I would feel really miserable in his shoes too tbh.

@Fairheartstrife
I wasn`t saying she is running off from Cloud or she knew Sephiroth was there and probably could kill her. She does a selfless act by going alone and taking a high risk something bad by someone who is bad could happen.

And like I said before: Her act was noble but not really smart!
And please don`t call someone who is acting noble dumb, that`s cruel. :P

This is a girl who needed a body guard to get from Sector 5 church to her house, and you are asking me why her wandering the Sleeping Forest is dumb... Really?

WTF? She's been in the slums her whole life and sells flowers on the street. She can hold her own. She doesn't NEED a bodyguard. She was interested in Cloud so she proposed the offer to him. Think of how many times she made the trip by herself. I mean come on now..

Aerith was capable of getting to her house from the church just fine. The player can make Cloud completely useless; she'll still get back up to the top of the church. Yeah, she wanted help, but she didn't need it.

...But her going off alone was still stupid in terms of her safety and thus the world's safety. It would've been better if she'd left, say, Tifa and Barret with Cloud and taken the others.

But everyone's a little stupid in FF7. I think it's something in the Lifestream.

Is my sarcasm really so hard to identify...

**sigh**

Her wandering into the Sleeping Forest alone and hiking to a Temple of Ancients that NONE of them even KNEW of before this quest while Shin-Ra is on their asses and a madman is wandering around like a loon is FUCKING STUPID.

The comment about the bodyguard was tongue in cheek as I am SURE I've mentioned her using the bodyguard excuse was manipulative and have mentioned myself that she didn't need one...

Does not change the fact that her going to the temple alone is stupid given the aforementioned circumstances.

Cause Aerith is just such a badass muthafucka, walking a few blocks from the church and selling flowers on the upper plate. She cracks skulls a stick and drinks battery acid. Of course she doesn't need a bodyguard. She's proven MANY TIMES she's strong and capable of protecting herself. :awesome:

Aerith's the strongest fucker in FFVII, period.

Like when she bitch-slapped Tseng in the Helicopter... wait... Oh, oh, when she busted heads to break them out of ShinRa HQ...wait... Like when she...like when she...

She's bad ass. Just take my word on it. :shifty:

LOL whatever, you know it's a perfectly valid point that she doesn't need a bodyguard to get around, no need to respond with hyperbole. She fucking crossed continents and got into the Forgotten city on her own in like a day. HOOO SNAPZ.

And WGAF if she took the party with her or not. Were they not there when she got sporked?

LOL whut? She crossed continents only when she was part of A TEAM OF FREAKS.

And yeah, she got into the Forgotten City on her own...thanks to being a Cetra. She's badass cause she was able to go through the Sleeping Forest on her own without the Lunar Harp?

They were all the way across a body of water and several yards away. It's not like they were literally just next to her.

One of them was... and that same someone tried to kill her a just a few seconds prior to Sephiroth.
