In this forum tradition we give a specific member a thread for a week in which they can share whatever information they want about themselves, then answer whatever questions the public asks them. It's sort of an expansion on the "Let's get to know each other" thread by, well, giving one member the spotlight. More information on the concept can be found here.
This week's participant is [member=668]Lex[/member], who has elected to share the following information:

Feel free to ask whatever you'd like. This thread will be up for approximately a week before we move onto our next participant.Laifu Story
Hello, I'm Lex. Full name Alexander, people call me Alex, Alexis, Lexi, Lexicon, and Lex IRL. Everyone has their own name for me tbh. Actually my friend Holly calls me Alexio in texts and on birthday cards too.
I'm from Glasgow, which is the biggest city in Scotland. While it's a moderate size, lots of people, not a lot of wide open spaces, it's surrounded by lochs and countryside so the people here also have a bit of a small-town mentality, it's an odd mix. Glasgow is known for its high crime rate, I was born in one of the roughest areas and grew up in an OK one.
I had three very good friends and a lot of on/off friends in primary school as well as kids who lived around the corner/ on the same street. Two of them actually also turned out to be gay much later in life after we lost contact (one male, one female), the one I kept in touch with a bit is a Lawyer living in London. The people around my street I was friendly with are either dead or in prison or living off the state with an average of 5 children. Tell a lie - one is a nurse.
I was a bit of a loner at the start of Secondary school. I applied and got into numerous private schools which I couldn't go to because my parents couldn't afford it and they earned too much money for me to be granted a scholarship. Two of the previously mentioned good friends went to the private school - one was from a single parent family and the other had a mother who worked there. Going to Secondary school with people I didn't really get along with wasn't much of a hoot I came out of my shell when I was around 12/13, listened to a lot of different kinds of music and found my niche among the misfit metal loving crowd. I came out (more like was forced out) when I was 13 and someone I knew shared a note I had written to a friend. The teacher caught them passing it and read it out to the class. Before he knew what it was, it was too late. People tried to bully me for years and I developed a bit of an iron skin, but then most of the kids started to respect my wit because I started shouting back after a few months. I found myself oddly popular. I was part of a misfit crowd but I was also in all the school shows, the choir, got really good grades in subjects that were perceived to be difficult. By the time I was 15 I was friendly with just about everyone in my year, and everyone in the school knew who I was. I've since learned that two people I knew quite well in my classes were gay, but were in the closet at school. I resent them slightly because of the shit I went through and they never had my back. I understand they were scared but that resentment doesn't just evaporate because I happen to understand. I still hope karma gets them.
I left school at 16 due to a shitty teacher and worked for a year-ish at an office. I moved to Big American Coffee Company(tm) while I went to college, did an access course after some trial and error with other stuff and went to University a few years later. Started working for Well-Known Telecommunications Company(tm) while at Uni. Left during 3rd year, finished uni a couple of years later and here we are.
Relationships
Covered elsewhere I guess. Rocky, odd, tragic and bad situations. Haven't had one for a few years, haven't been as miserable . Doesn't mean I don't covet cuddles and spooning from time to time.
I'm attracted to masculinity - or I guess what society calls masculinity. I like men taller than me with broad shoulders who look like they could break you in half by touching you. Personality wise I like guys who are mainly laid back but can hold their own in an argument, and will tell me to shut up when I'm being an idiot. I don't care all that much about intelligence (re: academia) or what they do for a living, just how observant they are in a relationship. And number one thing: loyalty. I don't think I'm much of a poly person in terms of relationships, but I've never tried it.
Media
Music: I love everything from Pantera to Beyoncé, and I love the looks on some of my old friend's faces who are into like Slipknot and Korn etc (who I also love) when I start belting out a pop tune. With music I feel unlimited, I'm into everything. My mission is to stick my middle finger up at every person who judges a certain kind of music, which goes from the trendy friends who say some metal is just noise and screaming, to the metal crowd who condescendingly say that it's all computer noises. There's more to it and they know they like some of the stuff they pretend they hate. If I hear it and I like it, I listen to it. Fuck the haters. The only genres I don't like too much are Jazz and Rap, but like everything there are exceptions. I don't like the sound of a saxophone which is why Jazz bothers me, and Eminem's popularity makes me want to shove knives in my ears so rap bothers me (I know there's better rap, but sometimes things colour your experiences with it). I always liked ICP and Cypress Hill and Missy Elliott. Not so crazy about the super popular rap.
Movies: Enjoy, but they're my least favourite form of media. I get less excitement from a movie than I do anything else. I typically like horrors and psychological thrillers. Not so much into comedies, but that's only because I can't stand Will Ferrell, that guy with the black hair from Zoolander and Adam Sandler in anything post Billy Madison, so that's 95% of all comedies out the window.
TV Shows: Covered these in another thread.
Video Games: I like them all except sports games, I'm not into them. Favourites are pretty obvious
Ask me anything, I'm an open book
