If you had the chance to go back at any point in time in history, what changes would you make in an attempt to make the present better for humanity in general?

Okay guys sorry for the terrible pace of answers here... the weekend took a different turn than expected.
Personal questions eh? Okay!

What was the worst date you ever had, including worst sexual encounter?
I haven't been on any bad dates, really... or, well, there was one time I went for a walk with this guy and he was just boring as fuck. Thought highly of himself, and he wasn't that particularly smart or good looking or funny or anything.

Worst sexual encounter... there's been a few :P I'd have to say the second guy I slept with, who first went soft (which is fine, I like nursing someone back to 'health') and then continued to... do... stuff I've only ever seen in porno movies. And no, I'm not saying what he did. :P

After he'd gone I washed the sheets immediately.

Do you care for "romance" novels? Did you get into the 50 Shades nonsense?
"50 shades" is a disgrace to writing, BDSM and romance novels altogether :P I guess I'm a sucker for a love story on a rainy day when my PMS is riding me and I feel like crying from turning on the lights, but it's not my favourite kind of story. Best romance movie, by the way: Brokeback Mountain. Ssssiiigghh.

While we're at it: You ever toy about with BDSM? If so, you a sub or Dom?
No... and I have no idea

Less personal:

Wine, Liquor or Beer?
Beer. With food, wine.

Salt tooth or Sweet Tooth?
I'm more of a sour tooth, to be honest. But of the two I'd pick sweet.

Red meat or white meat? (or No Meat?)
Red, definitely. Red and bloody!

In FF12 did you enjoy faffing about on the airships between cities or were you more of a "get there right away" kind of person?
I did the sidequest and hunts thing for my first playthrough. I also grinded a lot. So I didn't push forward that fast.

When are you going to bring me home to the folks? :oscar:
<3

What made you want to go into software development? Was it much of a transitional leap from telecoms?
I guess I always had one foot in the industry as I already knew HTML/CSS, SQL and some other basics, plus in that logistics job I mainly worked with data analysis anyway. (Recieve giant spreadsheet, import it to MS Access, create a database scheme that doesn't eat your CPU, analyse data and put into an Excel summary sheet etc.) I guess I always wanted to get into programming but never thought I was good enough for it. Then along came someone who knew the industry and had faith in me (my ex.) Plus I had started working an administrative position in IT by the time and knew that if I wanted a 'real' IT job, I would have to increase my skills. Programming was the closest to my interest.

Telecoms is quite a different story, imo. It's more technical - more old school command like equipment and physics kind of thing, where you really ought to have fiddled with the equipment to get really good at it - to know how stuff really words. I feel like software development is almost an entirely different industry than networks/ telecom. What they share is bits and bytes, but the industry itself and how it's built is very different.

Who/What/When/Where was your first kiss? Would you change anything about it?
I was 17, it was a boy in my class at a party. It was... odd. I remember thinking 'so that's tongue!' But I really enjoyed it. Definite good first taste (ha!) even if it was very brief and with someone I wasn't initially interested in.

Re: Your first sxctime, would you change anything about it?
Nah. It was what it was. I guess I'd have wished for someone more experienced, but I don't think it would make that much of a difference... or maybe it would, I have no idea. I guess I would rather change my tenth to fiftieth or what that would be times, because things got... sour. He was pushy and juvenile and really awful with me.

What's a guilty pleasure of yours, for topics including food, music and tv/movies?
Keeping up with the Kardashians  The Devil Wears Prada, pop music, as for food... really greasy junk food. With lots and lots of mayonnaise :joy:

How quickly can you come from it? What advice would you give to someone who would like to try it in the future? :awesome:
I'm not answering the first :P As for the second, I wouldn't know what to tell you to be honest... I think every girl is different :)

Damn I wish I had a friend like that. So have you ever been attracted to a girl?
I've found them attractive, but never as I do with men, I'm afraid.

Have you ever stolen anything? (apart from Omega's heart ofc :monster: )
I've stolen beer glasses from bars :wacky: But other than that, I can't think of anything.

Have you had lutefisk? Is it as gross as it sounds?
I have it every year! Usually around November/ December. It's really nice if the fish is prepared properly, then it's actually quite tasty. Plus the side dishes are what's really win about it.

Do you have any favourite beauty/bath/shower products?
There is this conditioner that I've been using for over a year now that does wonder to my hairs. I hope they never stop making it, that will be a sad sad day :( I can't remember what it's called but it's probably some weird local Scandinavian thing anyway :)

What is your favourite type of horse?
I don't have a favourite breed... but I enjoy the mature, easy-going kind that's safe to ride and loves human company.

What is the most annoying thing you've ever encountered on tumblr? :monster:
Oh god... I think I had like an anxiety attack or whatnot from it. At least my heartbeat went up and it was not pleasant. Like, lol. When did Internet start being able to make me feel like that? God.

Do you enjoy your affjordable sveedish krap? Have you any favourite furniture styles?
Hahaha  Well... the dining table is still standing... and the glass thingy that my TV stands on is pretty nice. Generally I'm not a huge fan of IKEA, you know that I guess :monster: As for furniture... I don't like black furniture because it eats light. I prefer light quality materials, things that don't scream for attention but still have something different to them. Not sure I have a particular style though.

What is the longest time you have spent assembling furniture? :monster:
Bwahaha  Ugh, I think there was a desk in like 2003 that took forever to assemble. IKEA, of course. :monster:

What is your favourite season?
That's a tough one! I don't mind autumn, actually. Winter and spring too. I guess Summer wins though, due to holiday time, warm weather, and generally happy looking people.

What is your favourite make of shoes?
There's this... Spanish? brand called sixty-seven. They make really great boots. Tamaris make great sandals and pumps, even high heels (particularly when they come with the German "anti-shock" heels.) I also adore my black leather Sneakers, they're from a brand called Gabor.

What is your favourite brand of chocolate?
There are several! I think they're all Norwegian brands though, so you wouldn't know them. But in terms of type of chocolate... anything with caramel in it. I love Snickers too. And Anthon Berg Plum in Madeira. For being 'grown up' chocolate they're pretty awesome :joy:

Do you like gardening?
To be honest, I suck at gardening. I base that on the fact that I can't keep the most resilient plant alive. :wacky:

My mother is quite good at it though. I think it's a good thing to know how to make things thrive and grow.

What is your dream job/career?
I like my current profession. I don't think there's a job I could pick that I would love that much more. Maybe something outdoors-y? But that probably wouldn't pay that well, and I do like the monies.

Do you enjoy your life, generally, or could there be some big improvements?
There could be major improvements to my mental health :mon:

Nah, maybe not major, but I'm working on generally being happy with life.

What's a favorite scent of yours?
A really sweaty boyfriend :desu:

That, and coffee beans. I could snif coffee beans all day.

Do you like coffee and what's your favorite way to drink it if you do?
Ohey! Yes. Yep. See previous answer :P I like a double latte, preferably on a lower-on-fat kind of milk. Espresso is nice. But also like filter.

What's your favorite gemstone?
I can't say I have any.
In jewelry I like white gold though.

I feckin' love you right now. :glomp:

Yes, my wife actually enjoys 50 Shades in the same way one might enjoy a "so bad it's good" movie, but it pisses me off that it is not only terrible writing but gives vanillas the completely wrong idea about BDSM.

What's your favourite way gender issues are handled in a fictional work?
I like when a real world problem isn't glossed over in some 'better' universe where the Problem isn't a Problem. I mean - I think it's a good thing when works show how women can be completely naturally in power/ have a voice/ matter more than their bodies, but there's something about it that doesn't sit right with me. It irked me while playing Jane Shephard. She runs around in skin tight costumes while commanding male seniors. Which, for those of us who has been exposed to the dominance of men in male dominated industries, is like... does not happen.

So while it's a story I want to see, I wan't to see spelled out in detail why these older men respect a young woman as a leader. And it has to be more than 'her father was a great leader'. I want to know how that kind of society is structured, what they do that we haven't learned, for women to clim to that kind of position of power.

I also don't like when women are portrayed as 'strong' mainly because they succeed on male premises. Like sticking a sword in their hands or putting in them in some sort of army situation where physical strength is the premise. Physical strength is a male dominated attribute. Greed and want for dominance is a male dominated attribute. Why can't women rise to rule for more female stereotypical attributes, such as community, cleverness, fearlessness, a need to protect, communication? Why is it that when women use their social skills to rise to power, she's a manipulator and a bitch?

I guess it's the same thing as when I say 'women can wear skirts and heels and make-up AND be great programmers'.

Oh god no

I can't answer that question!

At a thought, who are some memorable people here at the TLS?
For me? Or for TLS as a whole? For which period of time - while I've been here?

I love this answer. :awesome: I wish I saw more diverse stories too, instead the stuff you just mentioned. And I love realistic explanations and scenarios. And I'm tired of seeing the witty women/good thinkers be manipulators and bitches, like you say (or rather that the manipulators are the only ones who rise into 'positions of power', or respected positions.)

Thinking about this stuff, my main character in my book is a woman, and I hope I can portray her as someone unique and diverse, and not a cliche trope.

Um anyway, carry on.

Incidentally, these things were actually commented upon in Mass Effect (assuming that's what you're referring to), and it's armor, not a skin-tight costume :P (sorry, big ME fan)

Speaking of which, how'd that whole Dragon Age thing turn out, anyway?

Nah, we've had a similar discussion before and come to the same conclusion. The thing is, your opinion on the subject is based around facts, mine is based on feelings from years of experience on the topic. We'll never agree on the matter and that's fine by me.

If your soul somehow got separated from your body, and you found out that you can now do anything except interact with people/animals in a physical way, would you want to stay as a disembodied soul or try and find a way back to your body?

If you could only see one type of color for the rest of your life, what color would you choose? (Like only blues, or reds, ect)

If you could only keep one of your 5 senses, which one would you keep? Sight, Hearing, Touch, Taste, or Smell?

And this last one is similar to Octo's question of "What's your favorite word", except that it's "What word do you think is the most beautiful sounding?"
When I think of this, I always remember Tolkien saying that most people would agree that the words 'Cellar Door' is the most beautiful in the English language, but your word doesn't have to be an English word!

Bwahaha!! You and Tennyo.
Road. And... Road's clone?

Have you ever had any dreams about TLS members, naughty or normal?
I don't think I have, actually, either of the kind, sorry :)

Gonna use the Inside the Actorbs Studio questions:
...uh oh!

What is your favorite word?
English? Meticulous, maybe? At least it's a curious one. Norwegian - oh wow.
Ehm. Finingen. And kos.
What is your least favorite word?
Probably those words I can never learn how to spell, like necessity... okay got it right this time. And hm. Can't think of a Norwegian one.
What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
Quiet :joy: Touch of skin. Chocolate. A run. Red wine. Classical music.
What turns you off?
Other people's emotional stress :loopy:
What is your favorite curse word?
Satan, faen, and... English? Hm. The hell!
What sound or noise do you love?
Every weird noise my almost-boyfriend makes
What sound or noise do you hate?
Really really loud cries from children. Probably because my body wants me to react and there really is no point to that in the modern world.
People talking annoyingly loud in a language I can't understand.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Like for one day? Well... I don't know what to respond to those questions tbh... I'm tempted to say something as dull as 'interaction designer' :wacky:
What profession would you not like to do?
Something that takes up all my time, particularly if I have to talk bullcrap all day. Like a CEO :wacky:
If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
Ugh not you again!

If you weren't Norwegian, what nationality would you like to be?
Oh god! I have no idea! Australian?? No that's lacking imagination... Argentinian? No I really don't know...

If you were a man, what period of history would you like to live in?
In about... 200 years? :monster: Equality is good for everyone, y0 :desu:

If your soul somehow got separated from your body, and you found out that you can now do anything except interact with people/animals in a physical way, would you want to stay as a disembodied soul or try and find a way back to your body?
Definitely find a way back. I've grown very attached (pun not intended!) to my physicality over the years.

If you could only see one type of color for the rest of your life, what color would you choose? (Like only blues, or reds, ect)
Oh wow! Hm. I'd probably prefer it if stuff were like yellow greenish, so I guess that means I'd have to give up blue? And red? (Halp I don't know the science of colors)

If you could only keep one of your 5 senses, which one would you keep? Sight, Hearing, Touch, Taste, or Smell?
Just the one? Aaaaaa!
Well, taste and smell is about the same thing, and I know people who live without them. Sight feels key, but I do like my hearing. And for touch... uuuhh!
I'd keep the sight, I think. That way I'd still be able to program, read and play games, plus it's still easy to be fairly self managed that way, although I'm tempted to say hearing because I wouldn't not want to be able to hear people talk and listen to sounds.
Nah I think sight wins and I didn't think it would. Hm.

I'd have to go 'Fining' again... or 'søtt'. They're both Norwegian, sorry... (ugh that's a tricky question!) I can't just go for pronunciation alone... to me words need association with something I like.
It's odd I never thought about those things. Maybe I need to make like a top 5 list and keep it updated :monster:

Okay guys I think there's tonight and then I'm done, so... last chance :wacky:
