Favourite colour?

Favourite nail polish?

What is your favourite kind of tree/plant.

Do you have a mantra or motto that you follow?

Do you have a favourite Gemstone?

Who is a massive inspiration in your life?

Electric blue, but any blue is good. :)

Ooh, tough one. I like Bourjois because the finish looks far more professional than I have any right to claim (lol). My preferred colours are natural French manicure-styles, so peaches and pale pinks. I do have a fabulous slut-red that I love though. I would love to have a manicure from you though because yours are just amazing.
Oh, I also cheat and use the stick-on manicures for big events. :P

Fuchsia Magellanica molinae 'Lady's Eardrops'. It looks great as a shrub or tree. As a tree it has the most beautiful trunk when it gets old, it looks like knotty hazel but a lighter matte brown. It's also frost hardy to around -20C so it's a tough fucker for one so delicate-looking.
I also have a soft spot for Ophiopogon planiscapus nigrescens, or mondo grass/black turf lily. I grow it in pots, you can never have too much of it. One day all of those potted up babies will take permanent pride of place in a formal border.

Don't expect, that way you won't be disappointed - from my Mama.
Pedicabo Adversa - my family motto. :P

Amethyst is my birthstone so I have a lot of it. I like amber because it's not a stone per se. I have a large specimen piece of quartz called Thomas and two large twin amethyst points. Those three are worth £250. XD Right now I'm wearing a blue topaz pendant which is smooth polished cabochon on the front and facetted on the reverse, it creates an amazing light-catching effect and really shows off the blue of the stone. Picking a favourite would be tough but the Sanskrit word for topaz suggests heat or fire, which I rather like. I like good quality aquamarine too, but the deeper blue tones are harder to come by, the more common washed-out blue doesn't really appeal.

My mommy, she's had a ridiculously tough life but she still finds joy in little things and she bubbles along. Sometimes I speak and hear her voice. Not sure if good or not....

Speaking of secret languages, ph'nglui mwgl'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn?

He does indeed. :cthulhu:

Are you like me, you think your kid is the most adorbz face thing ever and other people's kids just kinda suck? If you do, are you "That Mom"? The one that brags about everything Mageling does and acts kind of snotty about it? 'Cuz I kind of am. And I try not to be, but I can't help it.

What do you wanna be when you grow up?

If you could only eat 1 food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

and finally, how are you? :D

Also, I've heard that some of Tupac's ashes were smoked in a blunt by his Outlawz crew. Not sure if this is true or not.

Well yeah, that's because a lot of people bring their kids up to be utter brats. The after-school club my boy was at was a nightmare because I'd walk in to collect him and get kids walking up demanding to know who I'd come for. More than once I'd glare and say 'NOT YOU'.
I make a point of not showing off how fab the Mageling is, mostly because when I was post-natal there were a lot of competitive parents who treated it like a point-scoring exercise, either by having to be more traumatically depressed or by trying to make one feel inadequate for having the audacity to be mentally ill.
I can understand the temptation though, my niece is a gifted learner who reads at twelve-year old level at the age of nine, and my boy reads at the years above's level. :D

An artist. I'll settle for garden designer as long as I have time to dick around with pencil and paper when the mood takes me.

Probably cheese. It's one foodstuff but there's enough variety to not get bored. :D

I'm good thanks, I should probably be in bed by now but I give no fucks. I'm sure I will tomorrow though. How are you?

Somewhere on this sweet earth, that's probably a hazing ritual to channel his energies. :monster:

Do you like Seafood by any chance?

How did you maintain your beauty after giving birth?! I'm just too damn curious! My own ma had to take years before she became so pretty. o.o

What grade are your eyeglasses? I find them adorable so I wonder :B

I do, particularly shellfish. Not so fussed about lobster though, it's a lot of money for such little eating!

Oh u. *blushes* I actually had bright red freckles after the boy was born - I'd burst pretty much every blood vessel in my face with the effort! They took ages to fade.

IIRC, about -6.5. My right eye is worse than my left 'cos of the muscle weakness. I'll be getting new specs soonish. Before I detached my retinas, they were -9.0, so oddly enough, they've improved since then. Not sure about the trade-off of depth perception for improved eyesight though. Think I got robbed there. :P

I have four tattoos at present (in order of inking): a moogle on my left arse cheek, an angel on my left shoulderblade, a half-caduceus on my lower back (a 'tramp stamp' if you have to use the phrase), and my son's name in Arabic on the left-hand side of my bikini line. I went for Arabic because a bonkers Turkish tattoo artist designed it and stylised it. I vowed never to have a name tattooed so I think this a neat dodge. :D I definitely want more too.

Not really, though sometimes I get the collywobbles going downhill on my bike after coming off it, I just brake gently until the bike slows down.

Strong unsweetened tea is the answer to all of those. I do like coffee in the mornings though. I'd have to have water as a close second though.

It was a bit of a dare to start with. He was planning a backpacking tour of the UK and asked if anyone wanted to meet up. I wanted to climb Scafell anyway so I pitched it to him, half expecting to be told to fuck off. He agreed and we met up on a Friday, went to Alton Towers as an ice breaker and went on everything fast and scary. I didn't know at the time that he didn't like rollercoasters. Lolwhoops. The next day we drove to Cumbria via Manchester, where we met Belmat and had lunch with him. We couldn't find the car and I got a parking ticket. :wacky: We did the climb and the following day I dropped him off in Carlisle where he went onwards to Scotland. Two weeks later I was working at the Shrewsbury Flower Show and he was headed back to Brum on the homeward leg so we met up and went on the piss with my colleagues.
Last year I dared him to climb Ben Nevis and he agreed. :awesome: This year marks the last of the UK Three Peaks.

Unfertilised. :monster: For now, anyway.

Ooh, base camp would be somewhere in the Home Counties - NIMBY that you middle-class fuckwads! :P
I'd have to summon Yop and Fangu for comms shit online, and possible hax shenanigans, GLD and Clicky for provisions and feeding the troops, Ami because FPS expert :awesome:, Ghost for tactics, Mog and Carlos because they're military, and Tres as our peacemaker (makin' love not war). That's off the top of my head, if I thought about this I'd definitely want more good folk around!

I like Brit flicks, action movies and subtitled films - there's some ace foreign films like District 13, Old Boy, Amélie and Nightwatch that are easily overlooked simply because they lack English dubbing. A travesty!

Five road songs are a difficult question because there's gotta be a good mix of warble-friendly and lively songs. Plus some songs make me press down that little bit harder on the accelerator....
1. Anything from Babel by Mumford and Sons for warbling.
2. Anything from Version 2.0 by Garbage
3. The Sickness - Disturbed
4. Anything from Re-Animation by Linkin Park
5. Prince Charming by Metallica (another warbler). :D

I like to be organised and have a logical order to things, but things have a tendency to grow legs and walk around in my house. Many a time I've gone knickerless simply because I CBA to hunt round for clean scanties. :monster:

I really want to ask you an interesting question.

Uh. I can't think of anything.

What is the most interesting question I could ask you? :wackymonster:

Something in-depth that provokes an air of adventure with a hint of mystery - my favourite flavour ice cream is cookies and cream. :monster:

Gods no, I hate Showaddywaddy! Love Hugh Dennis though. :)

Tea is brick-red, like soup, no sugar. Coffee is now black with two sugars (I ditched milk in coffee last week).

Erm, a mix of things - I'm fascinated with Celtic heritage because it's kind of a lost history, but it had a massive impact on early Briton life. I love that the gods weren't random deities who popped up now and again, they mingled with the kings and could be affected by regular folk just like well, regular folk. Only ones who could seriously fuck your shit up. :awesome:

Yep, I started writing something that began to turn into a novel but then the computer died, it's still on the old hard drive but I wasn't impressed when I last re-read it. I do think I could improve on it massively now. I've had a couple of dreams that have formed the basis of stories, I just don't much time to work on them :/

Art; we were allowed to have the radio on when we worked. Plus I produced some FFVII-based artwork in that class and didn't get told off for wasting time. I wish my maths teacher could see the genius in that.

I'm pondering studying garden design as a formal course, I'd like to do my Level 3 diploma in Horticulture but finding somewhere to study part-time is proving fecking difficult. Two things that interest me ATM are plant pathology and fungi.

What do you do when you need to have a poo in an English country garden? :wacky:

Drop your pants and suffocate the ants in an English country ga-ar-den. :monster:

What is your astrological sign, and do you believe in that sort of thing?

Did you watch Power Rangers as a young 'un?

What were your favorite Saturday morning cartoons, or their equivalent if they don't have that in the UK (BLASPHEMY)?

Who are your favourite artists? Name as many as you wish, and don't be afraid to mention the crafts too, eg: favourite jewelery makers, sculptors, glass workers, ceramicists, installation artists, etc (if applicable).

Do you have any pictures of your work online? If so, do reveal (if even in private if you prefer). Particularly interested in the copper wire stuff.

Do you have any training as a jeweler, or are you self taught?

Are you what could be defined as an ethical shopper, and if so, how stringent are you? EG: Do you know the source of the diamonds you speak of? :P.

Regarding reducing, re-using, and recycling, how frequently do you have to take out the trash? (Unless you are particularly amazing, and this is non-applicable :P).

Aquarius. I was born three weeks late and if I hadn't been, I'd still be an Aquarius. I think there's something in it, couldn't define precisely what though, since there are around seven billion people and only twelve star signs. :wacky: I don't make decisions based on my horoscope though.

I did, when we played Power Rangers I was Yellow Ranger (Trina? I forget). I didn't understand half the jokes in the movie until I was much older though. I was a bit dense when I was y00f. :P

Oh, now you're talking! Saturdays when we were nippers involved SM:TV and CD:UK. Ant, Dec and Cat Deeley and their infamous Poké battles. :D I AM MISTEEEEEE!

I loved Spiderman and the X Men too.

Since you're a gardener, is there a flower or a plant that you find goes under appreciated by the general populace?

Oh, there's fuckloads that people tend to ignore, hence the specialist growers and holders of national collections (I hold a national collection of Ophiopogon: there's two varieties. :P). People tend to wince and 'hmm' whenever poisonous plants are mentioned (I once got called irresponsible for planting Aconitum at the school - the person who called it me had foxglove and phytolacca growing in her garden and let her dogs shit all over the school), but a remarkable amount of plants are poisonous - it's to varying degrees and a blanket ban would leave a lot of borders empty. Even parsley is poisonous in large quantities.

Oh fook, we'd be here all night. My favourite artist is Claude Monet, closely followed by Dante Gabriel Rosetti. One who isn't anywhere near so well-known but I have to shout out is Lady Helena Hempstead. I know her (used to work in a shop where she was a regular), and her work is lovely, so it warrants a mention. I actually ran into her last Sunday and she's still waiflike but sunny (she wears a lot of yellow and seems to radiate).
Eh, now I'm on the spot I can't think of any names offhand. There was a lady at my mate's graduation exhibit who produced some stunning glazed work, I took her card. She used beautiful combinations of more sombre colours, the effects really appealed to me.
As far as jewellers go, my mate Dave is bloody talented. He works for a manufacturer called Diamond Geezer now, but makes a lot of amazing stuff still.
I'm gonna mention a gardener though: Vita Sackville-West. She had a long-term extra-marital relationship with Virginia Woolf and was responsible for the grounds of Sissinghurst. She hired a lesbian couple to manage the grounds too; she gave no fucks about what society thought, so she was a bit of a trailblazer and a hero of mine.

I don't. I've been plagiarised and criticised (in hindsight it was outright trolling, but I was still n00b then). I was quite shocked to see someone passing off my animé efforts as their own and it's kinda soured me to posting anything I do online. I'm actually thinking about making a site for the copper wire stuff since I intended to sell it, so I'll let you know if that comes about. I've thought about scanning in my work and posting it here since everyone's so constructive about artwork, but never gotten round to it.

I'm trained in wax carving, wax-setting, waxing, lost-wax casting (feel free to ask if you don't know what they are), polishing, finishing, minor repairs and watch repairs. I did try to learn CAD but I couldn't get on with the package we were using (it being a demo version didn't help at all). I taught myself pearl-stringing as it's bloody useful for beading work. I can do macrame too but it's a pain in the arse. I've never gotten formal qualifications for any of what I'm trained in, again I was thinking about doing a course in it (it's prospectus time of year, lol).

Very much so. My diamonds came from Australia! The chain of supply for diamonds in the UK means that the trade is 99.9% conflict-free now. The questionable point of entry is Chinese-made products unfortunately. I don't know why people are so obsessed about diamonds anyway, have a look into Burmese rubies or South American emeralds, that's worse.
Personally I like to know where my food comes from. If it's sourced from outside of Europe, I tend to go with Fair Trade stuff. I try to eat the seasons and keep my food mileage low but I have to hold my hand up and admit to buying mangoes in winter. Our winters are just miserable, and mangoes are happy fruit. :) I do boycott shops and products if their ethics suck. I don't buy Nestlé products, and Coca-Cola gets as wide a berth as I can give it. I avoid Tesco too, they're one of the worst offenders for pressuring their suppliers.

Every week, but it's usually a non-full bag. I had to curtail my recycling efforts since I was the only one bothering, so the conservatory became filled with plastic bottles and cans that a certain someone should have taken to the recycling facility but didn't for over a year.
I read about a guy the other day who managed to put out just one bag for the entire year. That's hardcore. I doubt I'd manage that, but it goes to show how wasteful people can be - my old neighbour used to put out sixteen bags a week. Appalling.

if you could be any kind of puppy, what kind of puppy would you be?

Not so adorable that I get manhandled by an irritating brat and subjected to a life of make-up and tantrums, but not so unappealing that I end up in the dogs' home. Probably an Old English Sheepdog since the breed is endangered now.

What is the most epic nom you have ever nommed?

Probably when the Mageling was a baba and busily schlurping a biscuit. I leaned over him and he shoved his fist in my mouth. There were far too many flavours there to just be biscuit. :/ It was epic alright, just not enjoyable.

I do, since TLS is populated by perverts, demons, elder gods and the Devil himself. :monster:

Tyrion, Jon Snow, Daenerys, Asha/Yara, Bronn, Arya, Beric Dondarrion, Syrio Forel, Hodor, Ygritte (in no particular order). The non-main characters I liked for their attitudes an story impact; they could have been other characters with different personalities, but the plots deliveries would have been somewhat different if that were the case IMO. Now I want to read the books again. :awesome:

I have watched about six episodes of GoT, so I can't really qualify an opinion there. The programmes are far more rushed than the books anyway, so I imagine a lot will be lost in translation from text to screen.

I don't really have a preference for any of the books either, though I was so shocked at Ygritte dying that the significance of the Red Wedding was a little lost on me until I sat down and re-read the chapters around it. Should have known that Jon Snow was destined to be miserable.

I want to see the moogle tat. I really want a cranberry and my bf has a huge fucking Bahamut on his back.

 best question of this thread! :monster:

How did you come up with the Mageling's name? (before or after birth?)
Did you find out if he was a boy or girl or did you wait for the surprise?

Before you got a gardening based job what other jobs did you do? And did you hate them or were they ok?

What was the clincher for you to go solo in your career? (still totally admire you for this)

Do you burn bridges? Hold grudges? Keep many fingers in many pies? Keep people at a certain level of contact for a rainy day? Um some other relationship type scenario I have not names?

Having kids, would you recommend it?

What was the thinking behind your pets' names?

If you had had every privilege in the world and a Cambridge education, what job would you be doing now?

When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?

We know you are kick ass, but is there a part of you that is a romantic, idealist, realist... um gothist.... any other ist?

If you could teach the world one lesson, what would it be?

Do you speak any other languages? Which would you like to learn?

And finally....
You broke my heart, cos I couldn't dance, you didn't even want me around. :'( But now I'm back, to show you, I can really turn it lose;
Do you love me, now that I can dance?

It was decided when I was about seven months pregnant, though it had been bandied about a couple of times already (we were watching Lucky Number Slevin and concluded that Josh Hartnett was a quality actor with a name we could utilise). Right before the Mageling was born, my ex's grandfather passed away so we gave him his great-grandfather's name too, which pleased his nan-nan immensely. That was the first time I met her and I adored her instantly. She was also a keen gardener until her poor health made her stop.
I digress, the Mageling's moon name was Flipper, which came from seeing him trying desperately to swim away when I had my first scan. If I'd gone it alone I was going to name him James Hetfield. :D

I found out the gender at the sixteen-week scan, though I was adamant from the off that it was a boy. I just felt certain about it. I wanted to know the sex because finding gender-neutral baby clothes isn't easy (too much bloody pink everywhere). Most of his accessories/non-clothing essentials were gender neutral though.

I've done telemarketing, customer service/retail and jewellery (retail and manufacture). I also temp'd in a factory and a warehouse when I was doing my Access to Teaching course. That was also when I did my C&G in MiG welding. :awesome:
The only one I really loathed was telemarketing. It was my first job and I got paid £2.25 an hour as a sixteen-year old. I worked with my best friend and the company (shitty Staybrite) tried to shaft us on our wages every bloody week. All the other staff felt the same about the job, so as soon as our manageress disappeared off, we'd make phone calls impersonating characters (geek that I am, I used literary characters and videogame characters - prospectives used to laugh instead of hang up when I introduced myself as Sonic the Hedgehog), or else phone our mates. The other jobs had factors that made them unenjoyable, though I liked the work. Even factory work can be enjoyable with music and decent colleagues. I met some fab people there, one guy gave me a beautifully bound copy of Wuthering Heights just because I enjoyed reading and we both loved classic cars.
The one retail job I did was working for my friend in her shop. It had a New Age vibe, though it was primarily a jewellery shop. She sold crystals, minerals and gemstones so I learned a lot there - it was what sparked my interest in jewellery manufacture, selling and wearing the stuff stopped being enough pretty quickly! It gave me a magpie mentality though, I can't pass a window without going 'ooh, shiny!' I like to be nosy. :)

Eh, my line manager. He turned into a bit of a sex pest. It was down to him that the school denied me the opportunity to continue my horti studies and I resented him for it. After that the commute and flak we got at work stopped being worthwhile and I stopped giving a shit. I was hoeing a border one day and pulled a decent plant out by mistake. I just crushed it under my boot and kicked it under the hedge. Normally I would never have done such a thing and that was when I though 'this is out, time to move on'. Then various things happened and both my parents were ill for some time, which pretty much burned me out. Going off sick was a relief TBH.
Contrast that to my first six months - I got thrown from a moving vehicle, dusted myself off and carried on working until my manager escorted me to the sanatorium to be checked out.

Burn bridges, yes. My aunt once remarked how lovely-natured I was to Mama, but she warned her "Our Anna? Yeah she's lovely but if you piss her off she'll just cut you out of her life." That summed me up quite nicely I feel. :monster: Life is far too short to put up with being jerked around (though I do appreciate the irony of that statement).
Hold grudges? Yep. I don't like carrying stress but if someone grieves me seriously enough, I'll hold onto it until we go our separate ways or they somehow redeem themselves to me.
Many fingers in many pies? Haha, definitely. I know lots of useful folk. I've had people make my acquaintance for the purpose of wanting favours from me or people I know (ultimate piss-take IMO).
Rainy-day contacts? I've a couple. ;)
Basically if people stay in my life, it's because they've earned their place there. I regularly clear out my Facebook friends list, and save for the folks I know online, everybody else is someone I know in person. Just today someone moved themselves onto the cut list for an ignorant fucktard comment.

I don't recommend having kids, no! I never planned on having any but I don't think I could handle the mental effects of having an abortion - that's not to say I'm against abortion though, it's just not an option for me personally. Now I've got the Mageling, I would like another, he'd love a sibling, but eh, time and a place and now is not either.

I like pets to have people names. I've never called a pet Fluffy or Rover. My parents are the same so I kind of took the approach from them I suppose, we had Sid, Molly, Rebel (probably the exceptin but we didn't name him) as dogs, and a myriad of hamsters, goldfish, guinea pigs and a rabbit named Flopsy (my sister chose that).
So there's Jack my trusty mutt, Dave and Shub-Niggurath, and when I was pregnant we had Azaka and Kamidake (the Juraian bodyguards from Tenchi Muyo), but they were infected when we bought them and died within a fortnight.
Dave was a name chosen by my ex, he was bummed out that I'd got two cats and he hadn't picked their names. We thought Dave was a girl at that point (high-pitched meow and tiny nads, lol) so the ex thought it was hilarious, then Dave turned out to be a male. His name was supposed to be Nicodemus. Shub-Niggurath is an Eldritch god, the Black Goat of the Woods, The Goat With a Thousand Young! IA!

Probably what so many women with access to that level of privilege do - start a pre-approved career in something droll before being persuaded to marry someone my parents introduced me to and proceed to have three kids by someone I only like rather than love before discovering coke-fuelled swinger's parties in my forties. :monster:

I'd actually like to be a doctor, I was pretty good at chemistry and biology was one of my things at school. I'm pretty good with legal stuff (once upon a time I took Nationwide Building Society to court and won), I'd feel confident representing myself in court but I wouldn't want to practice law because a)if you're still practicing after you qualify, you can't be much good at it :wacky: and b)Lawyers, solicitors and QCs........yuck. TL;DR it's an archaic system, too full of competition and in dire need of reform. And then there's the legal system. :monster:

An artist. I was discouraged because artists are always poor. Then Damian Hirst happened and I was pretty pissed.

Am I ic or ist? Lawls, idealist I suppose, though my cynicism is doing its level best to quash those crazy sentiments. Right now I'm fucking baking, it's gone really warm again.

I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony........but I ain't much cop at it myself. :P
Joking aside, it's that no amount of money can repair the damage we're collectively causing the environment. Corporate nature-trashing for profit (fracking, I'm looking right at you) should be classed as a crime against ecology and guilty parties should be made to sit and ride static bikes fitted with dynamos to generate power.

I speak GCSE French, so shit basically. I vaguely remember bits of German too. Other than that, I know a bit of BSL and Makaton, I'm learning Japanese on and off from Hito's wonderful thread and I'm very lazily picking up Dutch (we're talking glacial here), since it's kinda the universal language of horticulture. When I was still job-hunting, I realised it would be an asset. I didn't realise it would be a pain in the ass, boom! I've invested too much time on it now to quit. :monster:
There's an armchair interest in Gaelic too, well, not just Gaelic but the Celtic tongues all round. Welsh is quite fascinating but Gaelic is easier to digest.

Makes no difference to me darling, I have to be pissed as a fart or in the mood to dance, otherwise I'll be propping up the bar. :D

Holy fuck, time just slips away whenever I answer questions! There's been some bloody good ones, I'm rather enjoying this.

@ Octo: White cotton. The lighting in that photo was from the old light fitting which gave everything a yellow glow - I'm whiter than that IRL. :D
I couldn't make my love for L permanent - there would be Disapproval. :awesome: It's more fun when it's clandestine.

Your thoughts here are excellent, particularly the bolded.

Do you music? Art?

What are the odds of some other member of an internet forum getting their name marked on your rear (and a very fine one it is, too)?

Favorite fruit? Vegetable? (you can use any criteria here, including things that have nothing to do with eating them)

Dracula vs. the Space Hippos: who wins? Flying Shark vs. Flying Crocodile?

If you were a mythological creature/person, what/who would you be?

Gym Leader Devil

True Master of the Dark-type (suck it Piers)

So many names
I do, since TLS is populated by perverts, demons, elder gods and the Devil himself. :monster:

Awww I rate a specific mention <3 ...and have been all of those other things at one time or another :wacky:

Anyway... Who wins in a fight between Astronauts and Cavemen?

Where do worse things happen?

Can you be havin' with all this?
