Nanaki's Flaming Tail

I was watching Advent children the other day and noticed that Nanaki's children don't have flaming tails so i watched the ff7 ending and they don't in that either. It got me thinking.. Is Nanaki's tail on fire because of Hojo's experiments (Which were stated to be different to the Jenova experiments) or is it just a sign of adulthood in his species? Bugenhagen makes a point of telling the group that Nanaki was still a child, but did that mean his body was still a pup's body, or did he just mean he wasn't wise enough to be considered adult?

Thats a good point. I don't think it ever even gets mentioned in the OG. Like everyone was too polite to mention that HEY RED YOUR TAILS ON FUCKING FIRE!

Dinne has a flaming tail too in Before Crisis, and Tseng mentions that the Turks' instructions (from Hojo) said a flaming tail is a distinguishing characteristic of that species.

I bet Cid uses it to light his cigs sometimes too

So there isn't any other information on it? Like we don't know if he can control it, or if it's 'real' fire that can burn stuff or what?

Wonder if there's anything in Case of Nanaki? He lives in a forest for quite a while in that story, so you think if his flaming tail was a danger, it would've been mentioned?

I wonder if it has any relation to the Cosmo Candle? Cos if that goes out something terrible is meant to happen.

Also, I wonder if Red lights his own farts? I mean I would...the fire is right there and I'm supposed to leave that alone?

That's definitely Charmander. I don't think any mention's been made of Nanaki's tail.

As for Cosmo Candle, where do they get all the wood to keep that thing lit? All of the nearest forests are still quite a hike

^The Cosmo area used to be a vast forest, but they chopped down all the trees keeping the candle going.....and kind of buggered up their whole environmental ethos
