How I feel right now:

But seriously thank you all for your kind words and welcome. I've been a huge follower of the fanfiction scene at the very least for a while now and I'm hoping I can round up some of the best fanwork in all the various fields. I'm pretty new at this particular role, so I am 100% open to suggestions as I get my footing.

Thanks all!

I wasn't aware you enjoyed fanfiction to that extent. I probably already posted most of the FF related videos I hadn't already seen around the forums, save maybe some of the more recent ones. I always enjoy discussing that kind of thing as well.

For suggestions, we could probably better organize them or open up more discussion on the subject.

Well apart from having written nearly 100 of them myself (including my over 50 episodes of Shinra Inc. And), I also briefly did a podcast which I intend to bring back called The Library where I interview fanfic authors, all four episodes featuring members from the boards: Mr. Ite, Licorice and CameoAmalthea, Tennyo and Dawnbreaker.

As far as reading - JENOVA PROJECT. I'm also gonna start reading Death Is Part of the Process now that I'm on AO3 as CameoAmalthea sang its praises (plus I love the Turks in general). There was also this really good after FF7 fic called "Feathers In The Maelstrom" for a while that I used to follow but I can't seem to find it anymore.

For suggestions, we could probably better organize them or open up more discussion on the subject.

I can't say much for the main site as of yet, there appears to be an ongoing discussion as to the future layout of the site. For the meantime, I was thinking about doing the weekly fanworks roundup on the board and perhaps having a central post which I would frequently update to serve as a "Table of Contents". I would try to have one featured fanwork from each medium, be it fanfiction, fanart, music and video. Kind of like the Cranium version of Fanworks.

As part of our agreement everything you do and everything you create now belongs to thelifestream.net. All productions by you must carry the TLS logo and be posted on the TLS channel. Your soul now also belongs to me. I will be by shortly with a quill for your signature. Please drain the finger of your choosing into an appropriate chalice in preparation.

^ Still a better agreement than most boards. They want your firstborn son and I only have a daughter. plus she's a touch young for a sex change

Even so anything I do within the capacity of this job I would assume to be TLS Property at any rate. I've already got a bunch of ideas tumbling around in this rat maze of my brain.

A couple of things for general discussion:

1) I rather liked the podcast: The Library, but I wouldn't want to neccesarily do that again and risk bumping into TLS Podcast territory (not to mention it takes a while to set up and edit), so what if instead I did interview articles, asking content creators about their fanworks and included this as part of the articles I would write about their work.

2) I have already mentioned a forum-based weekly roundup, which I believe there was something already similar in place if I'm not mistaken.

1. That sounds awesome, but you're free to continue with The Library if you like, don't feel limited (and it doesn't have to be associated with TLS) although it's not a bad idea to integrate them with the podcasts if you wanna sort something out with Vader.

2. Flint came up with the idea of a weekly roundup which was a "this week in the world of FF" news piece which included comments from board members about the various developments. It was a fantastic idea and we did them for a while, but they became tedious. My suggestion to you would be to do something like that two-weekly or monthly so you don't burn out, and only commit to it if you're certain you'll be willing to continue them for at least a while.

Also yeah what Tets said. We own nothing, I was having a laugh :monster:

It's not and I don't think we could legally claim it unless we made people sign contracts :comedian:

Ethically speaking if not legally. Besides, if something I do for this board makes the board look good, it makes me look good to, so personal motive!

Edit: @Lex:

1) To be honest each of the pods have like 50 views which is a shaving of the views TLS videos tend to get, and they're a hassle to put together. But perhaps if the articles do well I might bring it back, I just don't want to commit to anything that might be too much at this point. I like the written word better. You feel less "on the spot" and can articulate your thoughts about your art more clearly.

2) Well then perhaps not a "weekly" roundup, but a bi-weekly sounds about right to me.

I've seen a lot Jason's different kinds of work. The variety of talents, coupled with a dedication so great that even a casual browser like myself can't help but notice, means one heck of a staff member. Congrats and have fun! :)

I remember reading at least a few of your fics at some point, though I don't read many that are centered around Rufus and the Turks. What drew me to fanfiction was my love of speculation, though I have yet to post one of my own. I should probably get around to updating my fanfic recommendations sometime.

That suggestion was more applicable to the forums than the site as a whole. Considering what's been said about how tedious fanworks roundups can be, I wouldn't mind less regular updates. While it can be sorted by medium, I think there's also the option of sorting by subject matter. For example, reviews, discussions about characters, theories, etc. There's also the matter of what can be gathered separately. Fanfics already have a thread for recommendations so they wouldn't need to be in the roundup, for example.
