Hello, everyone. I have been listening to the podcast for about half a year now. I am not sure how I came across it, but it was probably just from searching for things to watch/listen to on YouTube while I am at work. My job is not very mind engaging 90% of the time, so I listen to LPs and stuff like that a lot.
Anyway, the guys and gals on the podcast are always saying that listeners should come join the forums so here I am. Even though I have listened to the podcast for a while, I always hesitate to join new communities just because I am nervous meeting people (in person too). But, I really like Final Fantasy (okay I really like most JRPGs), and I would really like to be able to talk about it more.
My first experience with Final Fantasy was when I was 11. I don't have a good memory for my teen and younger years, but I remember this quite clearly. I had experience with games before because my dad bought a NES and SNES when I was younger. But they divorced and I lost access to those systems. By the time I was 11, it had been a few years since I played anything. My best friend back then has this super cool step dad and he bought a Playstation and Final Fantasy VII right when it came out. I was at her house when he set it all up and started playing. I was completely mesmerized by that opening. I ended up spending all my free time there (and we lived in the same building, so it was a lot of time) watching him play. When he beat it, I begged my mom relentlessly to buy a PS and FFVII for me so I could play it too. She gave in eventually and an addiction was born.
By now, I am much older than 11 and I have beaten every main Final Fantasy title that isn't an MMO (I already play WoW and one sub-based game is enough for me). Video games and reading are by two biggest hobbies so I devote most of my free time to those things (or activities related to them).
So, that is a bit about me. I really love the podcast and am excited to get to know everyone here as well as I feel like I am getting to know the podcast crew. Also, Lex (if you read this), I am sorry your trip to America was not super fantastic. We can kinda suck here a lot. I hope the next time you come, you can visit a better area than upstate New York (I have never been there, but what I've heard falls in line with your experience). Minneapolis is a great city and I believe we have the city's biggest Pride festival among many other great activity and entertainment choices.
