FF8 and 9 both had 4, didn't they?

Legend of Dragoon. Fear Effect. One of the Metal Gear Solid games had 3.

It always scared me. I had FF7 freeze on me once while switching from disc 2 to disc 3 and hadn't saved in awhile because I forgot it was coming up. Had to replay a bunch of stuff.

I was (and TBF still am) a bit disappointed that games moved from boxes to those DVD boxes; yeah they're a lot more compact now, but back then you actually got something cool. The last of the cool boxes I got was for Morrowind, which was already sorta in DVD format, but it was a two-disc cardboard thing with booklets and a world map and shit in it.

I have / used to have a box for Populous (1) somewhere - one of those big boxes, contained just some booklets and a single diskette with the game, :monster:

Shenmue (Dreamcast) was on 3 discs. I think Shenmue 2 was on a few aswell.

Having multiple discs needn't necessarily all be the RPG itself.

It could in fact be like Special Edition DVDs with extra content.

My personal favorite style of "multi-disc-ing" is:

---Game Itself
---OST
---Concept Art / Mini-Guide (like a Wiki or Library Mode)
---Maybe some doo-hickey memorabilia to enjoy the game as an experience.

Limited Editions do this a lot!
