I meant to make this thread last Saturday and completely forgot but here I am (I also forgot to remind Lex that season 2 premiered last week, sorry love <3).

Outlander is the story of Claire Beauchamp Randall, a married World War II nurse who in 1945 after the war ends goes on a second honeymoon to Scotland with her husband Frank only to find herself transported back in time to 1743. It's a time of danger and Civil War, where she encounters both her husband's vicious ancestor "Black Jack" Randall and dashing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser.

The t.v. series is an adaptation of the Outlander book series by Diana Gabaldon. The show was adapted by STARZ and the showrunner and developer is Ronald D. Moore (one of the guys that made 2005's Battlestar Galactica) and is being scored by Bear McCreary. The series is a mix of a bunch of genres; historical fiction, science fiction, fantasy, drama, adventure and romance. The first 2 seasons are adaptations of the first 2 books, season 1 for Outlander and season 2 for Dragonfly in Amber. New episodes are on Saturday night.

The show stars:

Caitriona Balfe
Sam Heughan
Tobias Menzies
Gary Lewis
Graham McTavish
Lotte Verbeek
Bill Paterson
Laura Donnelly
Douglas Henshall
Steven Cree
Duncan Lacroix
Grant O'Rourke
Stephen Walters
Stanley Weber

Btw the sex scenes in this show are amazing. :awesome:

The opening theme is delightful:

Fun Facts

- The author Diana Gabaldon and George R.R. Martin are besties which has made friendly fandoms of both book series. The shows fandoms not so much.

- Tobias Menzies is the guy who played Edmure Tully on GoT aka one of the characters the show completely forgot about.

- I nagged Lex for months telling him he needed to watch it because it does a really faithful portrayal of Scotland with actual Scottish actors and he ignore it and then he actually did and was like OMG this show is amazing. Also when I showed him pictures of Sam Heughan to convince him to watch the show he said he was meh, after watching the show it was he's so dreamy.

Discuss! I know for a fact Howl and Lilth also watch this, ya'll better post

I've never actually seen the show, but I read the first 2-3 books. :awesome:

It helps that Caitriona and Sam are like probably actually in love with each other. I've seen interviews with these two and they get lost in each other's eyes while people are asking them questions.

Howl watch it immediately or you're sleeping on the couch tonight.

They do have insanely good chemistry together, after those super steamy sex scenes it would not surprise me if they had started dating.

So the show didn't start the season like the book in 1968 with Claire telling the story to Brianna and Roger instead she's telling the story to Frank after she comes back to 1947. I liked the way Dragonfly in Amber started, it created a bigger uncertainty as to what happened after Outlander. Since Brianna's been cast I'm thinking that reveal will come then in the finale.

I've just started watching season 3 and I'm chuckling away because my university is featured heavily which is surreal because it's supposed to be depicting 1948 Boston and bits of the building they used are from 1451 before there were even traditional buildings in the US :monster:

Does anyone else find that the show is a little too closely tied to the books? Is it just me? I haven't finished reading the third book so this season is sort of going into uncharted waters for me but the entire time I've been watching this show I've thought to myself "I wish they would take some creative liberties and make it more interesting". Don't let the fictional truth get in the way of a good story, you know. :closedmonster:

Also, too much pants this season. :monster:
