Square-Enix are starting up a service called 'Dive In' in October, which will let you pay to basically rent games and play games over wifi connected smartphones and tablets.

The first three titles available are FFXIII, FFVII International, and Season of Mystery: The Cherry Blossom Murders (yeah i've never heard of it either). Prices are (in yen and without tax):
FFXIII:
3 day pass: 250 yen
10 day pass: 510 yen
30 day pass: 1250 yen
365 day pass: 1800 yen
FFVII International:
3 day: 200 yen
10 day: 400 yen
30 day: 1000 yen
365 day: 1429 yen
Season of Mystery:
3 day: 150 yen
10 day: 300 yen
30 day: 800 yen
365 day: 1185 yen
You can also play for 30 minutes for free. Future updates will include FFVIII and The Last Remnant (Nov), FFXIII-2 and Murdered: Soul Suspect (Dec), and Lightning Returns (2015). They will also be streaming video and music contents.
You also need a special app (Dive In Viewer), at least a 3Mbps wifi connection (6Mbps if you want higher quality), and a Square Enix Account. Oh, and SE Crysta charged to your SE account. Because why not make it more complicated
I wanted to play The Last Remnant but never had the Xbox or good PC to play it and they cancelled the PS3 version. But I would have to play this on my phone which isn't want I was hoping for.
Also I guess this would be on the Japanese side only for now, but maybe there will be an English one soon.
