PROJECT LIST

Welcome hackers, translators and writers. Before you browse our specific goals for each site section, here is a list of general content that we desire to host.

(See second post for info about signing up and using WordPress)

- Rips of game script, backgrounds, textures, character icons, sound effects, music, movies and so on. Naturally, we are also interested in software made to view this stuff. For example, 3D model viewers or background viewers.
- Magazine scans containing pre-release images of any FFVII title, interviews with the creators.
- Trailer lists coupled with analyses of pre-release footage.
- Complete art galleries. A combination of game/movie rips, official site rips, magazine & book scans should help create extensive galleries for each title.
- Developers & Credits taken from all localizations of a game or animated feature.

In ALL the above cases, we encourage written commentaries to flesh out content and put it into the perspective of how a title was made.

Alright, let's mosey!
Under the following sections, check if there is any project you'd like to sign up for.

Publishing Articles
If you are the writer/author of a project you will probably be interested in constructing the planned article yourself.

In the case of thelifestream.net, this will happen via WordPress.
Go here to register if you have not already done so.
If you want to generate content but do not already have the "Editor" status to write articles, simply inform me either on this thread or via pm and I will promote you.
"Posts" are "News Posts", so this is used for enlightening visitors about site updates.
"Pages" is for actual site content and so THIS is where you will be writing the upcoming feature.

How to Write in WordPress
Articles are written in HTML. If you are not accustomed to writing in this format, I recommend this tutorial.
Keep in mind, WordPress may interpret codes like </br> a bit differently than the tutorial would inform you, but in almost all cases the code will act as expected.

Notice: Unless you want to write in Visual, it is not recommended to shift to Visual when you've already written something in HTML. Doing so will permanently change the code even if you go back to HTML, meaning the entire thing will have to be re-written. In short, don't click on the Visual tab.

What about getting the forumwide replay of the original? Or is there a separate place where forum activities/projects are going to be tracked?

Good question. I had not thought about that one specifically, but I did wonder to myself if I was to involve anything about the LPs here. It might be a good idea however to keep "Community Projects" outside of this thread. I'm not ruling anything out just yet though, I need to think about it some more. Thanks for bringing it up.

I'm totally on board with this, along with the PM you sent me.

I do however think we need to hire some new Staff, though.

I'll be paying attention to this. If there's something I can help with I'll try, or give any ideas I have for content. :)

I do like the idea for organizing things. Tbh I've always found the front page a little cluttered and had issues finding things in the past (probably also a side effect of it being wordpress but ya).

I could help with the fanfction.
My expertise really lies with anything Turk or Shinra related, so if I could have one other person whose preferences lie with Cloud and Avalanche centric fiction, I think we could pull together a magnificent virtual library.
I'm very active over at the Genesis Awards, whose whole raison d'etre is to reward quality FFVII fanfiction. Archiving (with permission) previous award winners would be as good a starting place as any. It would be wonderful if we could get to a point where being archived on this site was seen as an honour.

That sounds fantastic, Licorice. I haven't read any FFVII fanfiction since Advent Children came out, but I did read some good stuff back in the day. I'm sure there's been a lot more since then.

Something like what you're suggesting would be a great jumping off point for someone new to FFVII fanfiction, or someone like me who hasn't looked at any in a long time but might want to check some out.

Major re-write of first post. Second post is now a stub for more formal info directed towards potential authors/writers. The categories are now based on what will become the new front page layout, so once that it is implemented the readers of the Project List will have an even easier time to navigate and understand where the content will be added.

EDIT: Added "Fanfiction" and "Remix Hub" section. LicoriceAllsorts is listed as head of the former category and the list now says that we are looking for fanfic readers well-versed in Cloud & AVALANCHE centric stories.

FFVII Original

I played this game when I was a lot younger (obviously) when the T rating was a little over my head. Being the rebel that I was I played anyway ( I was around 10) and like mostly everyone here was blown away with the graphics and game play that were far ahead anything else at the time. I'll find something to contribute on in the upcoming weeks.
Thanks for a great site.

I suggest something not combined with FFVII itself: making a facebook account.
Seriously, IMO this is what this site lacks. Facebook is powerful advertise now. Almost everyone has an account. It would be good advertisment too.

I have created my own facebook page now.
Shademp's FF7 Page! Like and share with your friends! :awesome:

Aside from sharing FFVII related discoveries, I will also be using it to try and recruit people for projects.

Origianl FFVII - T

Remembering playing this game is like waking up from a dream. I played through the franchise when I was a little kid, always acquiring as many of the items as I could. When FFVII came out I was still too young to play, but I figure I´d give it a try and popped the disc in. The opening cinematics were far beyond anything I had ever ever experienced. The gameplay is similar to most of the other games in the series, although the graphics improved a lot from the earlier incarnations. I plan on playing through this game again sometime in the near future. I´ll let everyone here know when I get the software up and running that supports the version of the game I´m working on (FFVII).
