Question about the new trailer

Hoping someone can clarify something for me here.

In the new trailer we see Sephiroth standing in front of Jenova. We know that for the first part of the game, the Sephiroth we are chasing IS Jenova. So how is it possible for both character to appear on screen at the same time?

I got in an argument with someone who said it was like that in the original (Sephiroth breaking Jenova's body out) is there ANY evidence to support that? I was pretty sure Jenova woke up, broke out, and took on the form of Sephiroth. I've never been under the impression that someone released it.

That's the mystery, isn't it?

You're correct. In the OG, Jenova broke itself out of it's enclosure in the Shinra Building, then assumed Sephiroth's shape.

The mystery of how we're seeing Sephiroth standing before Cloud and the others in the Shinra Building in front of Jenova's specimen container is quite intriguing. Is it a hallucination? Another offshoot of the creature? Something new? We have no idea.
